Waffles are traditional food in Scandinavia. In Sweden we eat it with whipped cream and strawberry jam.
In Norway they mostly eat waffles with rømme (Creme Fresh) and strawberry jam. I prefer the rømme light, it got a lighter and fresher taste.
This is home made waffles. It is the real thing, and my own recepie. They are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
You can use whatever jam you prefer if you do not like strawberries.
Some even like their waffles with fried bacon and syrup.
In Sweden we often eat waffles and pan cakes as a meal, while in Norway they mostly eat waffles with coffee between meals.
I once told a Frenchman about the Swedish habit to eat pan cakes as a whole meal. He looked at me strangely. In France they eat pan cakes as dessert or appetizer.
