Day 2 – 3 unmedicated days

Today it is the second day of my 3 unmedicated days of asthma. Second day before the Mannitol test of my asthma. Yesterday was not that bad, but today the medicine have started to wear off and I have had trouble breathing for hours, hard coughing and been sensitive all day. Even with medicine I get an asthma attack from frying, and today without medicine that protects me I decided to take the secure step before putting me in a situation that would make me really ill.

Protecting myself from the cookery fumes that make me sick.

So this is why I do this. I am not allowed to take any Symbicort Turbuhaler or Ventoline because of taking the test friday I am totally unprotected to whatever I get an asthma attack from. And since I normally get sick from cooking even when using medicine  I would get even more sick when not taking any asthma medicine at all. And in addition to this I have not taken any allergy pills of the same reason. And today I started to feel the itching on my skin as I always get when I do not take them. And today I had to fill diesel at the bus at work, and got som diesel on my hands. That made my hands sore, I got red marks at the skin and it started to itch later.

Now the mean minds reading this would probably think that she needs medicine for her brain. Answer is not. I just do not want to end up at the emergency room with an asthma attack that would be really severe only because I am hungry and need food.

This is life. And I do what I have to do to stay healthy regardless what others think or say about it. If that means using a protective mask while cooking, so be it. I can not risk my health because of others opinions, and I am not shamed to show and talk about it either.

There are other situations when I use the mask. When cleaning the house for example, washing my car, painting, bad pollution outdoors or what ever make me sick.

Now when that is said, I will share a thought. I have to take this test (as I said in Mannitol test blog entry and 3 unmedicated days blog entry about this ) because the social security system need proof that I still got asthma. From my point in life it is outrageously funny that I in my situation must take that test. I would not have to cook food using a mask if I did not have asthma and would get really ill from it if not using it. And above all the pain from taking the test getting a provoked asthma attack that will decline my health for at least that day, and I will most certently be ill the day after too. If not in asthma then because of the distress the body is put through. Everything I must go through to prove to some office people that I am still chronic sick in asthma. Specially since it is known both with doctors and scientificly proved that asthma is nothing one as an adult get well from ever.

Nuts.

I like canoeing, photographing, friends, movies, food, humor, and going on trips. I dislike rudeness, dishonesty, violence, nastyness, and people not caring for others. I do not drink much, I do not smoke and I do not do drugs. I love friends who are kind to me and stick with me. If you want to give me a gift, the best gift is to stop smoking and stop using fragranced products. Then you give me health and that dear friend, is the best gift a person can get. It is a gift of love. I got asthma and I am hearing disabled.
