Today I and my good friend went bicycling on Giske Island and found 3 GeoCach.
First one was Makkevika Ringmerkingshytte
Makkevika is a important resting place for migrating vading birds. Thousands of birds have been ringed here. Special birds for Makkevika is Ringed Plower, Grey Plover, Little Stint & Rock Pipit.
Then we located Spelplassen
It is the amphitheatre beside the beautiful Giske Church where in summer 170 actors will help you re-live the dramatic battle of Stiklestad. It was there that the mighty Arnunga from Giske played a central role in one of Norways most important historic events. The Giskespelet is performed every other year, eg. 2007 and in 2009 etc. See http://www.giskespelet.no for info.
And the third last today we located was Giske Kirke (church)
Giske church is located on the island of Giske in Møre and Romsdal Norway. The church was built in the 12th century in roman style. It was refurbished in 1756, modernized in 1860 and refurbished once more in 1930. The church is build in marble stone and covered with white lime. Several of the items inside the church was designed and made by Jacob Sørensen Giske-Gaard (“Tavle-Jakob”), including part of the altar (from 1756).
Some of the nice of Giske and Vigra we visited.
