http://tidsskriftet.no/2017/06/kronikk/hvorfor-er-autoimmune-sykdommer-hyppigere-hos-kvinner

https://nhi.no/sykdommer/allergi/diverse/autoimmune-sykdommer/

https://nhi.no/sykdommer/allergi/diverse/kortison/

No more laundry detergent or smell

Research for better environment

“Tenants in Malmö Sweden now becomes the first in the world to test a technology that cleans clothes in cold water and no detergent. Laundry room installed in two high-rise residential Nydala in Malmo used by 70 tenants and has according to owner minimal environmental impact.
– No more buying laundry detergent and fabric softener and additionally wash machines with cold water. This is something that we are the first in the world to offer. It is clean and odor-free, says Magnus novel that is project manager at MKB. In the installed laundry room is a facility in a cabinet that filter the water and de-ionize it. When the deionized water come in contact with the fabrics in the washing machine breaking the ionic bond between the fibers and dirt.

MKB Fasighets AB has high hopes for the technology. Totally are washed six million washes in the property company laundries every year and to wash with cold water would give a very large energy savings. Detergent and fabric softener is no cost for the property, but also here the company sees many benefits as it would save the environment by creating less pollution, less packaging waste and less risk of allergies.
– We want to contribute to ecologically sustainable Malmö, says Magnus Röman. By testing this solution we hope to find one of the ways that can help us achieve our ambitious goals.

In the project, electricity consumption, water consumption and customer satisfaction will be measured during the six months that the company will then decide how to proceed.” aktuellhallbarhet.se

Abortion – Murder or life saving?

Abortion

Many claim abortion is murder, while for others it is a necessity to make life work. To make an abortion is nothing you do in vain, there are serious reasons for doing it and it is no other persons business than the woman who need to do it.

If anyone think one do an abortion in vain because it is so easy, you must be totally misguided.

People have their reasons for talking against abortion, it can be religious believes, their own good experiences as a parent or  other view of life.

But we must be honest with ourselves, do we really know anything about the lives of those who choose to go for an abortion? Have we even walked a mile in their shoes so we now any little of their lives? Continue reading

Wolfs, what good do they do?

I have a friend (no name) who is a real wolf hater, actually he hates all that is a predator, by this person world would be a better place without any wolfs, foxes, eagles, and other predators in the world. He and many others like him look for a quick fix for their fear. By me that is ignorance. Personally I seek knowledge, and that I have done for decades. All animals in the world have a function to make the environment and earth work as it should. Continue reading

” Tidskriftet.no

Continue reading

So dangerous is your detergent

So dangerous is your detergent

Your soap can cause allergies .

“Over half of the laundry products Asthma and Allergy Denmark tested for BT, contain substances that can cause allergies. Every time you wash your clothes clean, you risk that the perfumes, dyes and preservatives sits in your blouses, pants and linens, which can give you or your child allergies. It is a big problem faced by many is not enough attention to explaining technical director of the Asthma and Allergy Denmark. – If you for example. both wear clothes washed in scented detergent and sleap in perfume washed linens so your skin is exposed to allergens 24 hours a day, and it’s certainly not good if you want to avoid allergies or irritation,Asthma and Allergy Denmark says. You are allergic to a substance by come into contact with it. Fragrances for example. penetrate the skin and activate certain cells of the immune system. You may not notice anything at first contact. However, the more your skin is exposed to allergens , the greater the risk for allergies. The allergy can occur suddenly , even if you wash your clothes in the same product for years. Do you also use problematic creams, cosmetics and cleaning products , the risk is even greater. In many people and producers (un)consciousness is fragrance equal to that something is clean. But perfumes are without function in the solution in addition to smell and cause allergies, says the Asthma and Allergy Denmark and tells that also dyes, optical brighteners / bleach and some preservatives can be problematic in relation to allergy. Asthma and Allergy Denmark explains that it is not enough to go for eco-labels as such.  Swan-labeled detergents may well contain perfume and certain dyes.

Asthma and Allergy Denmark recommends that you stay away from products in the test has been a sour smiley, in order to avoid allergies.”

Asthma in the 20 when mother exposed during pregnancy

“Children exposed in the womb to two chlorinated chemicals widely found in the environment are more likely to develop asthma by the age of 20, according to new research in Denmark. The study is the first to link asthma to hexachlorobenzene exposure during fetal development, and builds on two earlier studies that linked the respiratory disease to polychlorinated biphenyls.

515 chemicals

Beauty… Everyone wants to be beautiful and feel good. But did you know that many women put on 515 chemicals before breakfast? Do you use any products before you are ready for the rest of the day? Then you should read on…

Many women use about 13 products a day. A quick shower, and some lotion is all that is needed to have used very many chemicals on your body in a jiffy.

Showering in Shower cream, shampoo, conditioner, removing hair using a cream or barber foam, and after body lotion, hand lotion, face lotion, deodorant,  doing the hair with some gel, mousse and hairspray, putting on makeup, and then you add the last little thing perfume. Then time for clothes washed in wash agents and fabric softeners with perfume added to them because you want to smell nice. And now you are ready for breakfast. Do you see your self in this?

Before you have even had breakfast you have added more than 515 chemicals to your body and some are even harmful to you and your environment, and even to people around you.

Most products women use contain some kind of perfume, and this is in addition to the perfume you spray on yourself. Even your makeup most likely has perfume in it, along with your lotions, shower cream, shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, gel a.s.o. A perfume contain on an average a cocktail of 250 ingredients, the study found, with some containing as many as 400.

For example: Lipstick contains on average 33 ingredients, body lotion 32, mascara 29, and the purest product tested, hand moisturizer 11.

“The new ‘wonder treatment products’ contain more chemicals to be able to achieve better results, which means that women are more at risk.”

You like musk?

Synthetic musks (by Greenpeace)
“Synthetic musks are man-made fragrance additives used in laundry detergents, air fresheners, hand creams, soaps and perfumes in place of more expensive natural musks from the behind glands of  the musk deer.  They are environmentally persistent chemicals that have become widely distributed through the environment.  Two nitro-musks (musk xylene and musk ketone, or MX and MK) and two polycyclic musks (Galaxolide and Tonalide, or HHCB and AHTN) make up 95% of the European market for synthetic musks.  Emerging evidence suggests that these commonly used musks or their metabolites may be capable of interfering with hormone communication systems in fish, amphibians and mammals and may enhance the effects of exposure to other toxic chemicals.  Although the estrogenic activity of HHCB and AHTN is relatively weak, anti-estrogenic effects have been observed for the same compounds at concentrations more than 100 times lower.”

And what more all those products containing all these chemicals evaporate fumes from them with scent and else, plus the skin sucks up the chemicals and transport it via your blood stream to your organs. Taking a blood test one can count the chemicals in your blood and determine if you have a high amount of chemicals in your blood. Chemicals in your beauty products / deodorant have in research been found in for example breast cancer. Also the perfume and scents in the products are spread around you and affects also those around you. The feel good from your beauty products may just as well be a plague for others. You think you smell nice and that others like you, but very many get ill from your fumes and therefore you become a problem.

Not only are you risking your own health using those products, you can get eczema, allergies, asthma, sensitivities, reproduction problems and even cancer. But you also make others that already got those sensitivity illnesses sick from your use.

Take a look in your cabinet, and throw all way and replace it with non-perfumed products, also see to that you choose a product that got no Paraben in it. Paraben is chemical used in most beauty products a.s as a preservative to prevent the product from getting damaged. But Parabens is one of the most dangerous ingredients and is found in cancer.

There may be reason for people to be concerned about the findings.

“Their detection in human breast tumours is of concern since parabens have been shown to be able to mimic the action of the female hormone oestrogen, Oestrogen can drive the growth of human breast tumours. It would therefore seem especially prudent to consider whether parabens should continue to be used in such a wide range of cosmetics applied to the breast area including deodorants.”

Greenpeace tested 36 brands of perfume and concluded with that they hold chemicals that is hazardous to the reproduction ability with men, Many perfumes also contain a lot of  Phthalates, and EU has concluded with that they are bad for the reproduction. According to Greenpeace a high concentration of the substances can change the DNA of the sperm. Phthalates are used in plastics, in perfumes and as denaturing agent in the rubbing alcohol used in cosmetics and grooming products.

Whale vommit, or Ambergris, is vommit from whales that is a common ingredient in perfume. Ambergris is also used for scenting cigarettes. It is a solid, waxy, flammable substance of a dull grey or blackish color produced in the digestive system of sperm whales. Natural Whale vommit is now mostly replaced with a chemical substitute, natural whale vommit is still used in some perfume brands.

Phthalate esters (by Greenpeace) – “used as softeners in flexible PVC products, including floors, wallpapers, furnishings, prints on clothing and toys, as well as ingredients in cosmetics and perfumes.  They are almost universal contaminants in both the indoor and outdoor environment.  Two commonly used phthalates, namely di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) are listed as reproductive toxins in the EU.  Concerns for other phthalates in common use (including di-isononyl and di-isodecyl phthalate, or DINP and DIDP) centre on adverse impacts on the liver and kidneys.  Together, these concerns resulted in a recently proposed EU ban on the use of three phthalates (DEHP, DBP, BBP) in all products intended for children; the use of the three other phthalates (DINP, DIDP and DNOP) will only be prohibited in toys and childcare items for children under 3 years than can be put in the mouth.  However, they will still be allowed for use in all other products.”

EU is working with a law to reduce the use of harmful ingredients.

Alkylphenols (nonylphenol, octylphenol and their derivatives) (by Greenpeace) – “primarily used as non-ionic surfactants in industrial detergents, though also used in textile and leather finishing treatments, water based paints and as components of some personal care products.  Alkylphenols are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic to marine life.  Nonylphenol and other alkylphenols have the ability to mimic natural oestrogen hormones.  Recent research has also raised concerns that exposure to alklyphenol compounds could cause direct damage to DNA and to sperm structure and function in mammals.”

What do you got in your cabinet? If you let me, I suggest you replace it with something organic, and non-scented. Personally I am on the lookout for cleaner cosmetic products here where I live.

Artifical sweeteners

At Nrk.no one can read about an article from 2008 about a doctor who warns about consuming too much artificial sweeteners. The artificial sweeteners are actually chemicals used to sweeten food.

I heard of this a really long time ago, as a fact all back in the late 1990’s. So to call it new research is to take it a bit far. But besides that it is an ok article.

It is really over 20 years ago I decided to cut out fizzy drinks and cut down on salt and sugar, and potato chips and such. At first it was hard and strange to not get the tastes I was used to, but now 20 years later I feel it is disgusting eating all the crap sold filled with sugar, fat, salt, sweeteners and so on. Even jam tastes better without sugar and sweeteners. I usually say no thank you when someone want to give my any of it. Only sometimes do i accept.

In the article one can read:

Qoute:

NRK Posted 9/15/2008. Many substitutes sugar products with light products to keep their weight down. But now Norwegian research that light products with aspartame can actually cause you to put on you, add fat around the stomach.

– It can be explained by the insulin in our bodies are unable to distinguish between sugar and artificial sweetener. I think it increases the fat your weight, “says obesity researcher Birketvedt.

Birketvedt has had several research stays in the United States. There, she noticed that many people with obesity problems also drank a lot of light soft drinks, and that children who drank too much light soda had a lot of fat around the abdomen. Researchers began to suspect that it had a relationship with aspartame in light products.

Aspartame in soda gives you a high level of insulin in the body. Insulin is supposed to open the doors of sugar to the muscles so that the sugar can be used to work, pumping iron for example. But consuming aspartame there is no sugar, and then you get a strong need for fast carbohydrates, such as buns and chocolate – carbs you get fat from.

Food Safety Authority in Norway warns not against aspartame, despite several research reports have shown doubts about the drug is safe. Authority is based on the conclusions of the European food authorities (EFSA).

End quote.

As I said, I can not really see the importance of eating so much sweet stuff. I do great without. I think a glass of juice, salad, a plate of fresh food, and fruit is much nicer. If I get thirsty I rather buy a bottle of water than a fizzy drink. And so I have done the last 20 years. What I look for in the shops are products fitting my choise. But it is hard to find. Everything is sweetened either with sugar or artificial sweeteners. When will the producers of food cut the crap?

The first laptop

– This was a quantum leap: Laptop celebrates 30th anniversary

Osborne 1 came on the market in 1981 and was the first popular laptop. Notice how smal the screen is! Photo: Norwegian Museum

Adam Osbourne Photo: Tony Bove

Today we can hardly imagine life without having an mobile in your pocket, but it is only 30 years since the first laptop computer was invented. Osborne 1 was the name of the first portable computer that was a commercial success. The revolutionary invention was launched in April 1981 by Osborne Computer Corporation, but it was a pretty heavy innovation the world saw. The computer weighed almost 11 pounds and was equipped with a hard plastic case so you could take it with him on the plane.

The man behind the Osborne 1 Adam Osborne was also present at the launch, Norway. He was a very skilled computer journalist with great technical skill who had highlighted the need to carry a tool that he could write when he was traveling. The market for the Osborne 1 was first and foremost business people who travel as an important part of the job. Osborne 1 was a success with business people on the go. The Osborne 1 cost more than £ 15,000.

Notice the small screen

The machine was equipped with two floppy disks . This was before the hard drive’s time, so people used the one station to the operating system and the other for software. The software was available early editions of Word and worksheets.

Osborne 1 had no batteries, it was dependent on electricity for functioning. The screen of the first portable computer was not as we know them today. The screen was very small and not flat so we are used to today. The graphics were far from the same as we see thirty years later.

Computer lap are common today. The first laptops were perhaps not entirely appropriate to have on your thighs when they weighed over 10 pounds. At the most, were produced 10,000 machines each month. Osborne was produced and marketed in large quantities worldwide.

Although Osborne 1 was popular, the company went bankrupt Adam Osborne shortly. The machine was quickly ousted by the IMB, which came with a PC for half a year later.

Amazing!

I often think about how amazing it actually is that we can call with a phone without a cord, and compute without cables. We can instantly text message on both phone and computer, we can make video calls and see the one we are talking to even if the person is on the other side of the globe. We can show people we care in an blink of an eye. And that we actually can compute at all! It really is fantastic! Think about in the old days when there were no phone, no computer or no email. Then people had to walk or travel by horse in any weather many miles and long distances and hours just to leave a message, or say hallo even. But now we have those fantastic things to help us. Mostly one only take such for granted right? Well, I don’t, I think of it rather often. I lived back then when the phone was big clumbsy and grey and had that round thingy you put your finger in it and moved it around to dial the phone number. It was plugged to the wall and you could not bring it with you. You had to plan your calles and could only do it at home, from work or from a phone boot, and now we are able to both call and compute wireless. I think people should think about this a little more often, and be more careful with their toys. And be more grateful. We live in a time when we are blessed with having things that help us keep in touch with friends long distance. It also make me think of how sad it is that some people use these wonderful things to abuse other people. This is a wonderful item that should be used to make people happy, not to abuse others.

Amazing animals

I am very much interested in science, animals and nature. I subscribe to a science magazine. Today I read about a fantastic little creature that absolutely looks more like a vacuum cleaner bag than anything.

Tardigrada

It is named Tardigrada and live in salt water, fresh water and on land.  They were first described by J.A.E. Goeze in 1773 (‘kleiner Wasserbär’ = little water bear). Tardigrada name significant “slow-moving” and was given of Spallanzani in 1776.

Tardigrada are small animals, which for most species they have 4 pairs of legs. There are until the date (2007) described more than 800 species, but scientists reckon that there exists at least 10,000. The largest adult Tardigrada is about up to 1.5 mm, they are at least 0.05 mm and thus belongs to the least multicellular animals, there exists. Newly born larvae may be less than 0.05 mm.

They live from sucking on plants and animal cells.

What is so amazing about them? They can live everywhere, on mount Everest, glaciers, many km below sea level in the oceans, they survive 1000 times the radiation a human can survive, they can live without water for several years! They just dry themselves out and fall in to coma waiting for water! They can be deep freezed down to -272 C and stand heat up to + 151 C, and they survive vacuum and pressure that is 6000 times greater than found on earth! Their success lie in that they can hibernate and live like this for 90% of their lives, so that they later can wake up and live a normal life again! One Tardigrada was found in dry moss, it had dried itself and was in hibernate, and after 120 years it were revived! Wow!
