NHI.no

(Oversettelse under)

“Asthma is a disease of the lungs and the air tubes leading to them. It causes the walls of the bronchioles, the tiny airways in the lungs, to swell and produce mucus so that the sufferer has difficulty in breathing. Most deaths caused by asthma result from a gradual worsening of symptoms. The ultimate cause of death is a shortage of oxygen.” Dr. Professor. Martyn Partridge, Faculty of Medicine, National Heart & Lung Institute, Chief Medical Adviser to the National Asthma Campaign UK

” Dr. Professor. Martyn Partridge, Faculty of Medicine, National Heart & Lung Institute, Chief Medical Adviser to the National Asthma Campaign UK

WHO

Hvorfor skjuler dere sannheten for oss alle?

Asthma and Death

If you read on Norwegian, Danish and Swedish public pages about asthma it is very difficult to find anything about the cold hard facts that asthma is a disease one can die of. Not even the Asthma and Allergy Foundations websites has something on this knowledge. People are entitled to the truth, it is only with the truth of owning that one can learn to respect asthma, both those having asthma and everyone around those having asthma.

Asthma: The word asthma comes from Greek and signifies dyspnea. In 85% of cases it is due to asthma, pneumonia, cardiac ischemia, interstitial lung disease, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

“Asthma can show in several degrees for the person having asthma, mild, to severe acute asthma attacks. For acute, severe asthma attacks you at the beginning of the attack experience pronounced wheezing, find it difficult to talk, have pain or discomfort in the chest, have a bad cough, make great efforts to draw breath, and often sound sharp beeps from the lungs or throat. you may be pale, breathing very quickly and have elevated heart rate. When the seizure has been ongoing for some time, you will be exhausted and battered. You no longer have the strength for powerful breathing movements and coughing. This is a very serious character, and the urgency of treatment and help is critical. Medicate. If symptoms do not improve quickly, or they will return shortly, or if you become very battered, seek medical attention. Your doctor will consider whether it is necessary to provide other medications or hospitalization. in severe cases it will often be a need for oxygen, and it may be necessary to give fluids and medications directly into the bloodstream (intravenously). ” NHI.no

That’s what you can read about asthma in Norway. It shows the seriousness but it does not tell that one can actually die from it. To get the knowledge you have to go out on the Internet and search in English.

Even WHO talks about asthma as one of several websites:

“Asthma is a major noncommunicable disease characterized by recurrent attacks of breathlessness and wheezing, which vary in severity and frequency from person to person. Symptoms may occur several times in a day or week in affected individuals, and for some people become worse during physical activity or at night. During an asthma attack, the lining of the bronchial tubes swell, causing the airways to narrow and reducing the flow of air into and out of the lungs. Recurrent asthma symptoms frequently cause sleeplessness, daytime fatigue, reduced activity levels and school and work absenteeism. Asthma has a relatively low fatality rate compared to other chronic diseases. Asthma is a public health problem not just for high-income countries; it occurs in all countries regardless of the level of development. Most asthma-related deaths occur in low- and lower-middle income countries due to lack of medicine, but it also happens in high income countries in lack of proper treatment.
Asthma is under-diagnosed and under-treated. It creates substantial burden to individuals and families and often restricts individuals’ activities for a lifetime. The strongest risk factors for developing asthma are inhaled substances and particles that may provoke allergic reactions or irritate the airways.
Medication can control asthma. Avoiding asthma triggers can also reduce the severity of asthma.” WHO

It took me seven years to figure this out after long time searching for knowledge on asthma, stumbling over this and that searching. When I got asthma in 2007, no one informed me about this, there was nothing to find about it on the Norwegian sites on the web, nor at Danish or Swedish sites. Articles above is only a few of those several hundreds of thousands of people who die from asthma every year in the world. This is too bad. I must call a shovel a shovel. Why do you hide the truth from all of us?

Rengjør kaffekruset – Clean coffee cup

Rengjør ditt favoritt kaffekrus

Clean your travel cup

Du trenger: ( You need: )

Koppen (coffee cup)
Varmt vann (hot water)
Kaffetrakter rens flytende type (liquid cleaner for coffee machines)
En bolle (a big bole)
Oppvaskkost (dishwasher brush)
Q-Tip (cotton swab)

This is my cup, I have had it for many years. A Contigo cup. It is a very good cup, and it keeps the coffee cold for hours.

image

After long use at work it get stained inside.

image

Slik gjør du.

This is how you should do.

image

Hell kaffetrakterrens i koppen og tilsett hett vann.

Pour coffee machine cleaning liquid in to the cup and add hot water.

image

Fill it and let it stand for a few hours.

image

Take the bole, pour the cleaning liquid into the bole, add hot water. Put something in the drinking hole of the lid so that the water can do its job. Put the lid under water.

image

image

La det stå.

Let it sit.

image

image

The lid of my cup is hard to clean using a dishwashing brush, I use a cotton swab. At first glance it looks clean.

image

I push the button and this comes to show.

image

Her kommer man ikke til med oppvaskkost, her bruker jeg Q-tip.

It is too narrow to use a dishwashing brush here, so I use a cotton swab.

image

Og det skjuler seg litt under her.

Some coffee gunk hiding under here.

image

Now it is much nicer.

image

Gjør rent kruset med oppvaskkost som vanlig. Så pent blir det.

Clean using the dishwasher brush. It gets this clean, clean as a whistle.

image

Drikk en god kopp kaffe i et rent krus. :)

Have a good cup of coffee in a clean cup. :)

Tested: Eyeglass cleaning wipes – Brillerenseservietter

(Scroll down for English)

Brillerenseservietter

image

image

Produsent

Sterling  Polish Company A/S
www.sterlingpolish.dk

image

www.Europris.no

Eyeglass Cleaning Wipes

Today I went to Europris again to buy a thermometer, I did not find what I wanted but I found this one which stood on the shelf next to. I noticed that it stood fragrance free on the pack so I thought this I must try.

Cleaning cloth for glasses for a cheap price.
They contain no perfumes, still they have an odor of alcohol or other similar means. I have not taken asthma medicine since this morning and when I stuck my nose in it I sensed no immediate reaction, this despite that I normally react much on disinfectants, degreasers or other similar. It came just a little coughing so if I need cleaning wipes so I can live with it, it will be approved since normally one do not stick ones nose in it and it do not stink from far.

These should be reasonably safe to use. But please note they are not marked with any recommendation of any asthma and allergy associations. You should try those with caution if you buy them in a way that you are safe. Everyone has as we all know varying severity of asthma.

Each pack contains several small packages that you can easily carry in your purse or pocket.

Manufacturer
Sterling  Polish Company A/S
www.sterlingpolish.dk

Cleaning wipes for glasses should only be used for glasses with tempered glass. It is also suitable for PC and TV screens of glass, mirror, inside of windshields, camera lenses, helmet visor of glass and plastic.

It should not have to be mentioned (no one is so stupid that them do it?) But it says “must not be used on contact lenses.”

You can buy the product mentioned in Europris.
www.Europris.no

Otherwise I normally use only lukewarm water and a soft cloth, if I need something stronger, I use a small drop of perfume-free and color-free dishwashing as well. This could be a bit difficult to carry around in your pocket so that it can be nice to have something you can take with you.

@TodayShow what NOT to do at the #loo – #IndoorAir #Health #AirSafety #Asthma #AirFreshener #TodayShow #Media

This is a story about how ignorant people do their absolute best to mess up the lives of others. When you have read this I hope you know and do better in the future.

 Image of a bathroom.

Screenprint of Today Show headline. “How to clear the air after using the bathroom.”

Responsible for others health

Today I read an article at Today Show and I was horrified to read their advice on how to avoid the embarrassing feeling of “certain air you’ve left behind”.

Today show (and unfortunately other media too) communicates the destruction of your health.

Today Show only gave two good advice in the whole article. As follows:

“First and foremost, reduce odors by flushing the toilet as soon as you can. The quicker the flush, the less the odor. A “courtesy flush” is not only courteous, it’s smart.

Ventilate! Open a window or turn on the exhaust fan. Most bathrooms have exhaust fans above the toilet. Just make sure you’ve turned on the fan and not the heater portion of the fixture. Leave it running even after you leave the bathroom.” Today Show

I would have added make the sit on the toilet as short as possible, the longer you sit the greater the possibility for the odor to spread, and put the lid down before flushing to keep it all in the toilet.

What they say after this is what endanger people’s health and lives.

Then Today Show follows up with saying:

“Unfortunately, toilets don’t come with built-in air fresheners.” Today Show

I am happy every time I enter a WC without built-in air polluters since it in reality pollute the air to the point that I can not even enter the toilet to do what I need. In worse case if I have actually managed to enter before that chemical machine burst out it’s bomb I have to run out when it does. Actually I have to always be aware and check the room before I even enter because such fragrance machines send me to the ER for asthma treatment because the contents coming out of it makes me suffocate due to asthma attacks.

There are worse things than poo odor. Such so called Air Fresheners are actually hazardous chemicals. Open a window or accept that’s the way nature is.

It is way better to clean the WC room fragrance free, and a little more often. In the end it is cleaning that keeps the toilet clean, not fragrance.

Today Show  then follows up with saying even more health damaging tips.

“Fragrant hand lotion: Apply it liberally to your hands then wave your hands in the air. Some people go so far as to squirt a bit of lotion into the commode.” Today Show

This is enough to give allergy and asthma symtoms in a person entering after you.

“Hair spray: The heavier the fragrance, the better when it comes to this emergency air freshener. Again, a puff in the air and one in the toilet works wonders.” Today Show

This is enough to send any asthma sick person entering after you to the ER. NOT recommended.

“Perfume/cologne: If you’re lucky enough to have a small vial of perfume with you, your troubles are over. One sprinkle and odors are gone.” Today Show

This is enough to send any asthma sick person entering after you to the ER. NOT recommended.

“Spray bathroom cleaner” Today Show

This is enough to send any asthma sick person entering after you to the ER. NOT recommended.

“Cleanser” Today Show

This is enough to send any asthma sick person entering after you to the ER. NOT recommended.

“Bleach” Today Show

This is enough to send any asthma sick person entering after you to the ER. NOT recommended.

“White vinegar” and
“Baking soda” Today Show

This is often recommended as a more natural choice but combined in the same cocktail it produces a gas that is irritating the airways in the lungs.

“Liquid hand soap” and
“Shampoo/Conditioner” Today Show

Those go under the same as above-mentioned. This is enough to give allergy and asthma symtoms in a person entering after you. Depending on the grade of severity of the asthma, it can give all from minor issues to send the person in to life threatening asthma attacks.

Also see

Today Show Are you out of your mind? is all that comes in to my mind when I see these advices. People doing this can send anyone having asthma or other lung disease or sensitivity to the ER with life threatening conditions.

You are such a big news media and you have a great responsibility for what news you share and the impact it has. Last time I checked your post was shared 196 times. A post shared 196 times by people having about 300 people in their friends list is 58.800 possible views.

Are you aware that there are 300 million people having asthma in the world (WHO 2011)? expected to be 400 million people in some years (WHO). In Europe there are 30 million people having asthma (Efanet.org), and in the US 25,5 million people (2010) have asthma  (adults 18.7 million, children 6,8 million, fig 2010).

Figures from 2010 shows that in the US those made 14.2 million visits to the physician office (2010) and 1.8 million emergency visits to the ER (2010), 439.000 hospitalized (2010), 3630 deaths from asthma (2013).

Also see

Do you now realize the severity in what you have done?

Imagine the damage you have done to all the people in the world having asthma.

Polluting of air increase the health risk of those having asthma. But it do not stop there, the same goes for those allergic (can be life threatening), other lung diseases (can be life threatening, other kinds of sensitivity like for example hyperactivity, hypersensitivity to chemicals and so on.

By sharing such stupid tips you spread and increase the endagering of people’s health.

Please also read:
Perfume and air pollution
Did you know this about fragrance? Perfume has become the new passive smoke. It’s become as common with perfumed products today as smoking was before,  the spreading in the air violates the rights of those who get sick from it.

Ban scent marketing
Did you know this about scent marketing?

Clean detailed silver – Rengjør detaljert silver

I got this silver plated candle stick for a birthday many years ago. Even though it is not pure silver I like to keep it clean and nice looking. It was a pain until I some years ago came up with the idea to use a soft tooth brush to get those small details clean. Now it is done in a jiffy!

You need this:
One SOFT tooth brush
Silver polish
A cloth to wipe it clean after

image

Take the silver polish and the tooth brush and gently brush it clean.

image

Brush the candle stick using the tooth brush and silver polish. Let it stand for a while. Moist it again with more silver polish, brush and wipe it clean using the cloth.

If you can not wipe everything off with the cloth you can rinse it under water brushing using the tooth brush and then wipe it dry.

image

Done!

Who could guess they are inexpensive copies? Looking good!

(It is not very asthma friendly but it need to be done sometimes.)

Note! You need to wear some clothes you do not care much for since this is a little messy job.

Good luck ☺

Rengjør høreapparatet – Clean your hearing aid

(Scroll down for English)

Lykke til ☺

Do you have a hearing aid?

The plug in the ear becomes gradually bit nasty and need cleaning, and then especially the narrow passage in the plug is difficult to get clean.

My tip!

This works on hearing aids that sits behind the ear and has a tube and a ear plug. See picture.

What you need:
• A color free and fragrance free hand soap
• Tap water (warm)
• Neutral antiseptic wipes (or another variety that  is fragrance and color free, good for allergy and the skin.)
• Jordan toothpicks with broom

Carefully remove the plug from the hose that it is attached to. Put to side the hearing aid part, it is the plug you have in your ear you are to clean with this tip.

Take some mild fragrance and color free soap (eg. for example Neutral or Coop Änglamark that are mild and gentle) and warm water. Clean the plug exterior and rinse with warm water both outside and look to hit with the beam in the hole so that it flushes through the plug to get away the worst ear wax. Take a toothpick Jordan with brush and broom clean in the passage of the plug. See image

Take a corner of the towel and twirling it thinly. You must push the twisted corner of the towel into the passage in the plug. When you’ve got the tip of the cloth into the hole then keep turning the towel gently into the hole, a little at a time until you see the tip on the other end of the passage. Twist it around a little and repeat until you’ve gotten away any dirt or earwax has accumulated in the plug. A napkin has 4 corners so you can easily get it clean. Repeat until you are satisfied. Take even a napkin and wipe the entire instrument. Clean and neat and ready for use again. Now sound can easily pass and you hear better.

Good luck

Your are being fooled

(Scroll down for English)

Tror du at du vet?

Rent lukter ingenting.

You are outwitted

It should be illegal to add perfume in all products, it is enough to wash perfume free and wear perfume free deo, wash all the laundry perfume free and clean the house perfume free. I do it and have done so for approximately 8 years (2015). We are designed to breathe air nothing else, the lungs do best when they only get air without any other additives.

What is modern perfume?

What exactly is asthma? Think you know?

Smells clean is an erroneous definition of perfume industry uses to sell their products, they trick you to make money at your naivete. I wash myself every day and use deodorant but I did not smell perfume, I use perfume free products. What does clean air smell? What smells clean water? Nothing. It smells nothing to smell clean. Perfume is unnecessary chemicals added, perfume has no function to clean or to PREVENT sweat, soap and completely different ingredients than perfume do that.

Clean does not smell of perfume, it does not smell of sweat and dirt either. Clean smell nothing.

Help someone with asthma

What to do?

You can actually make a huge difference for everyone having asthma so they become more healthy and get a better life. Yes You!

What is asthma?

How to recognize asthma?

I know this person

If you know the person, ask what the person can not tolerate, allergies and other stuff they get sick from. When a person have asthma even things they are not allergic to can make their airways kick back and make trouble in form of an asthma attack. When you know what the person get sick from keep this away from the person at all times. If it is something you use yourself. STOP! even if you think in your own mind that it must be a silly thing.

I do not know this person

Around you there are many people who have asthma. One count that about 20-25 % of the population in a country have asthma. Worldwide (numbers from 2011) 300 million people have asthma, in Europe (counting from 2014) approximately 30 million people have asthma, and it is estimated that around 2036 about 400 million people will have asthma worldwide (information from World Health Organization WHO, Ginasthma.com, and EFA). In Norway for example there is in 2015 about 5 million people. 20 % out of 5 million people (counting low) is 1 million people who have asthma (5.000.000 x 0,20 = 1.000.000). How many live in your country? Count how many ( x million people times 0,xx equals?) So you see out of the hundred of people you see around you about 20 of those have asthma. And that is if we count low with 20 %. That is 20 people! So what can you do for all of those?

The nature of asthma is like this:

A person can be allergic to different things that causes asthma attacks, and in addition there are substances that causes irritation to the airways in the lungs causing asthma attacks even if the person is not allergic to them. Asthma comes in 4 different levels from mild to severe. Asthma can be deadly. To live you must be able to breathe, and the nature of asthma is trouble breathing. Think about this when you travel in the room where the public have access, and also in your home if your friends or family have asthma.

Common triggers for asthma:

  • Tobacco smoke
  • Vaping – some but not all react to vaping
  • Fragrance (both male and female scents) – both from the bottle and added to other products.
  • Incense
  • Scented candles and candles
  • Air fragrance, also known as signature scent
  • Airfreshener – what you use to hide bad odor or to fragrance the room
  • Animals – most common is fur and birds. But remember that it is not only the fur and the feathers that is source for the allergy, saliva and skin dandruff too.
  • Food – most commonly known is nuts and peanuts and that is both the whole nut or added to food and oils. Nut allergy can be fatal both taken in and airborne. But even milk, egg, fish and other foods can give such reaction both by eating it and airborne.
  • Exhaust from vehicles, both diesel and gasoline, and maybe others. Gas – actually most people have it bad from gas, but people with asthma have it even worse since they do not tolerate even smaller amounts.
  • Gassing from stuff – it can be gas from filling petrol, diesel, oil, alcohols, solvents, new plastic, cleaning products, ammonia, among many other things.
  • Dust of various kinds, not only house dust.
  • Pollen
  • Flowers
  • Grass
  • Evaporates

So how can you make the world better for a person having asthma to avoid the person get an asthma attack? It is actually rather easy.

  • Do not smoke or vape around other people. Smoke outside away from entrances and ask before you light a cigarette or e-cigarette.
  • Cut out the fragrance and fragranced products, only use fragrance free. The emissions, pollution, from fragrance and fragrance products cause asthma attacks. If you use fragrance and someone tells you to stay clear it is not to be rude it is to stay healthy.  Take the hint and go fragrance free.
  • Do not use incense, it pollutes the air. A sensitive person gets asthma attacks from it (even outdoors). If a person tells you not to use it, it is not to be rude, it is not to be against your religion, it is to stay healthy.
  • Do not use candles and scented candles since they emit a lot of invisible chemicals to the air that triggers an asthma attack. And the smoke from putting them out is just as bad.
  • Airfresheners, products giving away scent and signature scent for marketing is a big no! no! it goes under the same as Fragrance.
  • Turn the engine off as soon as you have stopped the car.
  • Think of fire smoke and other kinds of smoke, gas and off-gassing as pollution and keep such away from others. Ask before you do something that can emit to the air.
  • Avoid if possible to bring animals where there are a lot of people. A rather big percent of the 20 % of the population is allergic. That also goes for your clothes if  you have been around animals. Change your clothes to allergen free clothes and wash yourself.
  • Flowers are lovely, unfortunately many is allergic, so if possible try to keep the flowers packed in during transport home. And if you are going to give someone flowers, ask if they are allergic to it before buying it. Maybe something else is a better gift?
  • Dust and dirty – Keep the place clean from dust, but use as less chemicals as possible to get as clean air as possible. Cleaning and washing agents goes under the same as fragrance products, it causes asthma attacks. Go fragrance free here!
  • Pollen, yes it is a natural thing and not your fault. What you can do is to think of all that is allergic to it, do not brush or dust it off indoors, and if someone tells you to hand your coat outside it is not to be rude it is to stay healthy.
  • Food – Avoid eating where other people travel the society. Of cource you can eat in a restaurant or a cafe’, but avoid eating other places. Rather many get sick from airborne food emits, and when you eat you might get it on handles, seating, doors and so on, and the next one get it on their hands and then in their mouth for example (grown and children).

Remember that things that emits and evaporates to the air can be for sensitive people as pollution regardless of the smell. It is not the smell that hurts it is what is in the smell. We are constructed to breathe air, nothing else. If someone tells you – No!, it is not to be rude, it is to stay healthy. Avoid to have things that evaporate and emits to the air where the public is. Make the air as fresh as possible without additives, additives that is for all of us sensitive nothing more than pollution. Maybe it is a new way of thinking for you, but regardless what you think of it, it is all sensitive persons reality. If you adopt the way of thinking you can make the air cleaner and fresher for us all to breathe. In that way you can help us stay healthy. In polluted air we get sick, in fresh air we are healty. It is that simple. Have a nice day. / Annelie

Open letter to Norwegian Food Safety Authority

Food safety, air safety, delivery and cleaning

Today when I woke up and had my breakfast I remembered a thing that happened when I went shopping last summer, that in the next made me remember when I again was subjected to such an event just like this one. I have asthma and get breathing issues from chemicals as very many others.  That time at Christmas time I went  shopping potatoes at Kiwi and had a bad experience getting an asthma attack from a floor cleaning machine spreading its fumes around the store. The store stank from heavy chemicals and my asthma attack was acute from the content of these fumes. They were cleaning in opening hours and the food was not covered. Continue reading

So dangerous is your detergent

So dangerous is your detergent

Your soap can cause allergies .

“Over half of the laundry products Asthma and Allergy Denmark tested for BT, contain substances that can cause allergies. Every time you wash your clothes clean, you risk that the perfumes, dyes and preservatives sits in your blouses, pants and linens, which can give you or your child allergies. It is a big problem faced by many is not enough attention to explaining technical director of the Asthma and Allergy Denmark. – If you for example. both wear clothes washed in scented detergent and sleap in perfume washed linens so your skin is exposed to allergens 24 hours a day, and it’s certainly not good if you want to avoid allergies or irritation,Asthma and Allergy Denmark says. You are allergic to a substance by come into contact with it. Fragrances for example. penetrate the skin and activate certain cells of the immune system. You may not notice anything at first contact. However, the more your skin is exposed to allergens , the greater the risk for allergies. The allergy can occur suddenly , even if you wash your clothes in the same product for years. Do you also use problematic creams, cosmetics and cleaning products , the risk is even greater. In many people and producers (un)consciousness is fragrance equal to that something is clean. But perfumes are without function in the solution in addition to smell and cause allergies, says the Asthma and Allergy Denmark and tells that also dyes, optical brighteners / bleach and some preservatives can be problematic in relation to allergy. Asthma and Allergy Denmark explains that it is not enough to go for eco-labels as such.  Swan-labeled detergents may well contain perfume and certain dyes.

Asthma and Allergy Denmark recommends that you stay away from products in the test has been a sour smiley, in order to avoid allergies.”

Green soap and Christmas Cleaning

In the old days People were farming and the life was adjusted to the rutines in the farm life. Everything that was not in the season for the farming had to wait to Winter. So also the cleaning. That is why we have a tradition of big cleaning for Christmas. People even scrub the walls and celing.

In the old days was used Green soap made from pine. Back then it was a Natural Product.

Many swear by Green soap, what you never knew about Green soap is

Prior to Green soap a natural product, now it is a chemical concoction added perfume. Perfume is the definition of a chemical mixture which may contain up to 1,000 chemicals to create a fragrance, many of these chemicals is hazardous. But the producers would like to mislead you that it is a natural product.

In the article we read:
“- Green soap was absolutely wonderful to use in the old days. It added fat to surfaces of wood, said cleaning expert, but points out that it is not so today:

– Now it is mostly hard surfaces and synthetic. The soap will not penetrate the material, but rather settles again as a tenacious film on top, says Stig Ronander.

Where microfiber is static and becomes a dust magnet, works Green soap retina in practice as glue on dirt. It can also damage some surfaces. ”

Experts claim it is not necessary in modern life to clean like they did in the old days, since we clean more than once or twice a year.

Preferably we should also clean using water, fragrance free (that is scent free) asthma and allergy friendly soap and microfiber cloth and mopp.

We should throw cleaning spray bottle

(Scroll Down for English)

Vi bør kaste rengjøringssprayflasken

jifbaderom

We should throw cleaning spray bottle

jifbaderom

Throw away all spray bottles and clean using a cloth, soap and water.

Today I read something online in Norwegian NRK Telemark that scientists and the medical profession made concessions to the conclusion that one should not use cleaning agents on a the spray bottle. This is something I have warned about for 6 years now! But it’s very good that they have finally come up to the same conclusion I did after becoming asthmatic as occupational injuries in 2007. In my job, I frequently used different Cleaners on spray bottle and other aerosol form.

In the article we read:

“Washing the spray and asthma in cleaners. Should now be examined whether also washing at home can cause asthma and lung damage.

While pro cleaners deliberately avoids spray, its use increasing in people.

– We thinner rarely out. We use what we can buy and we spray more and more. Thus we breathe in more of these funds, says project manager Anne Kristin M. Fell at Telemark Hospital.

– We should throw the spray bottle and either use a cloth, she said.

Asthma will be the third leading cause of death in a few years. Now the hospital will determine how vulnerable people are at home. “

They’re on a major study in Telemark to find out what causes asthma in people, and they have now found out the spray bottle is dangerous.

And again, I completely agree. As I have for 6 years. Cut out the spray bottle and go fragrance free guys!

How to clean your makeup brushes fragrance free

First of all choose a scent free organic makeup for your makeup. And when you use it clean the brushes once in a while.

How to choose makeup brushes. Rounded thick brushes is to prefer. For powder makeup choose brushes of natural  hair, and for cream and foundation either synthetic or natural will do.

How to clean Your makeup brushes fragrance free

Squirt a small amount of fragrance free schampo in a mug filled with warm water and, softly swirl your makeup brushes in the soapy water to loosen the oils and makeup. Dump out the water and repeat until the water runs clean.

If you have a particularly soiled brush, put a small amount of fragrance free shampoo in your palm and clean the brush by hand.

Put the handles of the brushes on a ledge or on top of a folded towel so that the water will drain down and out of the bristles. Let them air dry overnight and fluff in the morning. Use a blow dryer to dry, if needed.

Go Fragrance free – Awareness

If we say care about others. Go Fragrance Free! Are you one of those who say – Can’t I wash myself, my clothes, use deodorant, style my hair, clean my home, wash up, shave, do my makeup, lotion and so on any more? Must I smell of sweat?

The answer is – No, you must not.

All of these products are fragrance free. Actually from my own cabinet. All one need.

fragrance-free-products-for-you-your-home

Barber foam, make up, hair styling, soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotions, lip balm, lip stick, face wash, mace up remover wipes, make up remover, toothpaste, sun lotion, sun block, antiseptic wipes, stain remover, detergents, fabric softener, wool and silk detergents, floor cleaning, universal cleaning spray for all surfaces, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher tablets. A little dishwashing liquid in water is good for cleaning all surfaces, wc, shower, bath tub, floors, walls, ceiling, doors, including mirrors and windows. About everything.

On top of it a Norwegian test panel with NRK made a test on what killed the most bacteria. They tested many common household sprays, and dishwashing liquid. And guess what won? The dishwashing liquid.

And for men it is better to use lotion for the face and neck after shaving than use aftershave because it is too harsh to the skin, lotion takes care of the skin.

Car care with steam cleaning

(Scroll down for English)

Clean the car with steam

Good for the environment and good for the air we breathe. Kepler AS Sem have started using new techniques for washing cars. Chemical products costing almost ten times more a month than steam, ie steam at high pressure. The work goes quickly and the result is better. Instead of traditional soap and water. Less water and no soap. In other countries it is more common to use this method. Hotels, food industry and helseintitusjoner use this. It is actually cleaner than soap. Approximately four liters of water per car. It comes out at 160 ° C, so it takes the bacteria too. Typically we use acid to clean rim. Here we steamer and wipe clean with a cloth. There is absolutely clean almost immediately. To clean a car uses 1.5 liters normally with means degreasing, wheel cleaner (acid), alkaline soaps and tar remover for polishing. Then there’s a ton of water pressure. It is not environmentally friendly. – The goal is to run completely organic, without the use of chemicals. Steam heater is gentle on paint, ideal for nooks and crannies, which doorframes and the engine compartment. Be sure to follow up with mikrofiberklutt right after steam heater, so you get a clean and dry result. It also works to engine wash, and because it uses so little water so there is less problems with the engines. You can clean everything, even the interior and seats.

The machine costs 75,000 NOK, but then saved the chemistry of 10,000 NOK a month.

Perfume and Air pollution – Or Second hand fragrance

(Scroll down for English) This is a sticky post, scroll Down for newer blogposts.

Alt går videre ut i blodet. Continue reading

If no immidiate health impact… – by Annelie Molin

(Scroll down for English)

Dr. Peter Dingle, Toxicologist, Murdoch University, Perth, Australia

“A survey of 425 households, 84% believed that the chemicals did not do any health damage “if it does not bother me immediately”  – attitude.”
Dr. Peter Dingle, Toxicologist, Murdoch University, Perth, Australia

So I thought also about cleaning products, body care, soaps, hair products etc before I got asthma. But it took two years in a cleaning job for me to become sick, and now I will never be healthy again. At best I can be symptom free if I manage to avoid such substances as I get sick from.

In the cleaning job we used several products you find in the grocery store.

Think before you start to use the products because you have no idea what exactly are the content and health effects. Just because they are at the shelf in the store does not mean they are harmless. Avoid anything in a spray bottle and choose fragrance-free, color-free and environmentally friendly products (all of these criteria in one bottle). Select products approved for asthma and allergy associations in Scandinavia (or where you live). Use as few chemicals as possible.

When you do clean so just take a few drops of fragrance free and color free cleaning productl in 10 liters of water, you do not need a lot because it get clean anyway.

About the test
This is a pure inhale test of the products. I test the products on my self. This is a real life asthma product suitability test done at home in real life settings. I am my own guinea pig. Whitelisted products should be safe for you to use. But as with all sensitivities some are more sensitive than others, always try new products with care. Make the first time trying it gently, if you got a skin condition try it on a small area, and washing agents on a hidden area or a cloth you can afford to waste.

My lungs are very picky when it comes to hygiene products, beauty products, hair products, washing and cleaning products and so on. Products not meeting the standards of no asthma reaction are blacklisted.

Please, buy such items whitelisted as gifts for friends and family. They are designed and made for a better personal health and are more environmentally beneficial than the fragrances ones. Use them yourself, care about your fellow-man. Do not make other people sick with your fragrance presence.

I was not paid to try this product out.

If you try this product your self, please leave a comment in the commentary field below.

Tested: Milo Wool and Silk wash – Whitelisted

In contrast to the old classic pink asthma bomb bottle of Milo Wool and Silk, this blue bottle of fragrance free Milo Wool and Silk works very good.

The lid is easy to open, and no asthma reaction to the product. Can only get a whitelist.

Actually Well done Lilleborg! You usually get a lot of yelling from me, but with this product you have done something nice for us all.

Warning! Update March 2016

Note! This product contains Methylisothiazolione (MI) that can cause skin allergies and severe reactions. If you have sensitive skin and allergies I would rather recommend you to use Neutral Ull og Finvask for wool and fine fabric.

Tested: Ajax Pure & Clear Universal Cleaning – Whitelisted

This product is perfume free, color free and free for harmful preservatives. It is scent free in the bottle, but adding it to hot water it got some unexplainable scent. A scent like from old vegetable oil. Still it is not perfume.

This product I tested off medicines, meaning have not taken any medication today to prevent getting a asthma attack. Still i did not get any reaction from my lungs using this product.

Tested: Ajax Pure & Clear Universal cleaning spray – Whitelisted

Normally spray bottles with cleaning products are a real nightmare, even the lesser perfumed product give a health issue when it comes to asthma. This is in addition to the content of the bottle, because of the small drops of cleaning liquid spread in the air, and you then breathe it in. Aerosol products and gasses are always a problem.

With Ajax Pure & Clear Universal spray they have managed to clear this problem. They have made a cleaning spray that sprays a foam to the surface. The foam is not aerosol in the same way as other products on the market. Ajax Pure & Clear Universal spray is also scent free, color free and free from harmful preservative.

Clean your car asthma, allergy and sensitive friendly – by Annelie Molin

Allergic, asthmatic or got another sensitivity? Do you get sick from cleaning your car?

image

If you have a problem using regular products for cleaning your car inside. Use wet perfume free baby wipes! It does the job just as good as any other product (except for windows).

For everyone it can be a good thing doing this as well. Ordinary car products are smack full of dangerous chemicals that is not good for you, and your friends might be sensitive and get reactions taking a ride with you. 25 % of the population have a sensitivity, so when selling a car it can be negative filling it with perfumes, smells and other chemicals.

My tip of the day. :-)

Tested: Clean kitchen without perfume

If you use the right products it is possible to have a healthy indoor environment, fresh air and a clean kitchen.

image

Next time you shop, don’t knock your health out with unnecessary chemicals. Choose with health in mind. Start with skipping products containing color and perfume, they do not do any cleaning job. Go for those 0%.

It is also usable on glass (add in water, spray and wipe clean and dry), in your car (add in water, clean, and wipe dry), and at work.

If you of any reason got oil on your hands it is most efficient for getting your hands clean too.

Bread crumbs in keyboard

(Scroll down for English)

Her kommer oppvaskkosten godt med.

In English

If you are one of those who still use the laptop and not have given in to read the board, then probably you are experiencing from time to time that it usually gets a little bread crumbs in the keyboard. It’s so nice to sit with the computer in your lap and eat something, right?

Here comes the washing up brush in handy. Keep your laptop over the sink and take a dry washing up brush and brush away the bread crumbs. A bit cheaper than going to the computer store and buy high-pressure air in a can.
