Ny lov gjelder fra 1. juli 2017

Ulovlig med damping på offentlig sted

Nå blir også damping en del av røykeloven.

Dermed blir det ulovlig å dampe i praktisk talt alle lokaler, på alle transportmidler, ved inngangspartier, på skoler og på jobben. Det gjelder samme lov for tobakksrøyk som for damp.

Luften i offentlige transportmidler skal være røykfri og dampfri, det innefatter også å ikke bruke disse produkter slik at det siver inn gjennom åpne dører, eller at du blåser ut inne i bussen. Kutt røyken før bussen stopper.

Og du! Vi hensyn til de andre på holdeplassen, gå unna om du røyker og damper!

Røykeforbud på holdeplasser

Det burde gå an å innføre forbud mot røyking på holdeplasser og terminaler med henvisning til røykeloven for offentlig transport.

“§ 12.Røykeforbud i lokaler og transportmidler
I lokaler og transportmidler hvor allmennheten har adgang skal lufta være røykfri.” Lovdata.no

Da jeg har 10 års erfaring med busskjøring har jeg også solid erfaring med røykeres beteende i forhold til røyk og buss. Det samme gjelder nok også for andre transportmidler da det samme publikum benytter seg av alle typer transportmidler.

Røykere røyker seg gjerne opp og drar kraftige trekk på sigaretten like før dem skal gjennom dørene til bussen, så kaster dem sneipen på marken og går inn gjennom dørene, det som da skjer er at all den røyken dem søg i seg den blåser dem ut inne i bussen, gjerne i ansiktet på sjåføren som har krav på en røykfri arbeidsplass, og de utsetter også andre i bussen for røyk. Passasjerer og noen sjåfører står rett utenfor og ved bussdørene og røyker slik at røyk siver inn i bussen. Dette er både et arbeidsmiljøproblem og et problem for reisende som blir utsatt for passiv røyk som siver inn i bussen.

Merk deg at det står

“skal lufta være røykfri.”

Det står ikke er det forbudt å røyke også om det innefatter røykeforbud, det står “skal lufta være røykfri”, ingen røyk altså, slik at per definisjon er det ulovlig å blåse ut røyk inne i bussen, og ulovlig å stå og røyke ved dørene slik at røyk siver inn i bussen. “Lufta i bussen SKAL være RØYKFRI.”

I dag er lufta ikke helt røykfri i offentlige transportmidler.

Slik som beskrevet herover skjer daglig uavhengig av transportør, oppdragsgiver og ruteområde.

Slik som arbeidstilsynet uttrykket det i et brev til meg

“Bussførerarbeidsplass når det røykes på holdeplass / i busskur. Holdeplass / busskur må regnes som inngangsparti som skal være røykfrie før bussdørrene åpnes. Kravet til røykfri luft gjelder for lokaler og transportmidler der allmennheten har adgang. Ifølge merknadene til forbudsbestemmelsen gjelder det også i inngangspartier, og det skilles ikke mellom inngangspartier for bygninger og transportmidler. Det skilles heller ikke mellom ansatte med ulike forutsetninger.” Arbeidstilsynet

I tillegg gjelder krav om universell utforming

“Universell utforming vil si å planlegge omgivelser, produkter, institusjoner og tjenester slik at de kan brukes av så mange mennesker som mulig. Hensikten er å oppnå like muligheter til samfunnsdeltakelse og motvirke diskriminering på grunnlag av nedsatt funksjonsevne.” snl.no
20-25% av Norges innbyggere har astma, både kunder og sjåfører, og i tillegg mange tusen fler med andre typer lungesjukdommer og sensitiviteter som reagerer med sjukdomsforverring da dem er i et ikke røykfritt miljø. Dette er veldig negativt for tilgjengeligheten til offentlige transportmidler da personer som må skygge unna røyk ikke kan bruke bussen. I tillegg blir alle utsatt før passiv røyk. De samme personene må bruke holdeplasser og terminaler og blir utsatte for passiv røyk. Og det er veldig negative alt sammen.

Lungesjukdommer som astma m.fl, allergi, og andre sensitiviteter er et handikap anerkjent av både LDO og FN. Hvordan det?  Defenisjonen på et handikap er

Ifølge norske offentlige utredninger,  

NOU 2005: 8 om likeverd og tilgjengelighet. Rettslig vern mot diskriminering på grunnlag av nedsatt funksjonsevne. Definert funksjonshemming som: “Funksjonshemming oppstår når det er et gap mellom individets evner og design eller funksjon i omgivelser / miljø / bygg.”

Merk deg at det ikke står angitt spesifikt hva som er handikap, det står for eksempel ikke bevegelseshemmet, blind, døv osv, det står kun angitt HVORDAN noe er et handikap.

Det er forbudt å blåse røyk ut inne i bussen og forbudt å røyke på holdeplass og i busskur da bussen står inne for å forhindre at røyk siver inn i bussen. Ifølge loven om vern mot tobakksskader og persontransport skal luften være røykfri. Personer som bryter mot loven kan avvises.

Personer som bryter mot forbudet kan avvises av sjåfør i henhold med loven.

“Person som på tross av advarsel fra eieren eller den som driver lokalet eller transportmidlet eller representant for denne, overtrer bestemmelse gitt i eller i medhold av paragrafen her kan bortvises fra lokalet eller transportmidlet.”

Dessverre er dette vanskelig da det vil gi sjåføren problemer pga sure og sinte kundeklager, og sjåføren risikerer repressalier fra kunder, og problemer med arbeidsgiver og oppdragsgiver.

Eneste måten å komme dette problemet til livs er å forby røyking på alle terminaler og holdeplasser.

Vennligst ta et krafttak for offentlige transportmidler, terminaler og holdeplasser slik at lufta er røykfri for alle, både for ansatte og kunder.

Frisk luft, hva er det? – Fresh air, what is it?

Forskjellen ren luft utgjør

 

 

Jeg mener ikke å forminske matallergi, men dette er virkeligheten for alle med lungesjukdommer som blir sjuke av forurenset luft i denne duft og parfymegale verden. Godlukt sa du? Det er kjemikalier, ikke luft, det er å tilsette stoffer i luften som ikke har der å gjøre.  I daglig tale kalles det forurensning.

I tillegg til pustevansker kan det medføre kraftig hodepine, migrene, såre og rennende øyne, hoste, allergisk snue, mv.

Vi er konstruert for å puste luft, ikke noe annet.

Vi kan ikke la være å puste for å verne oss til du bestemmer deg for å ikke forurense luften. Bli parfymefri!

Astma og død

Leser man på norske, danske og svenske offentige sider om astma er det meget vanskelig å finne noe kalle fakta om at astma er en sjukdom man kan dø av. Ikke engang på Astma og allergiforbundenes sine sider finner man noe om denne kunnskapen. Folk har krav på sannheten, det er kun med sannheten i eie at man kan lære seg å respektere astma, både de som har astma og alle rundt omkring de som har astma.

Astma: Ordet astma kommer fra gresk og betyr åndenød. I 85% av tilfellene er det på grunn av astma, lungebetennelse , hjerte-ischemi, interstitiell lungesykdom, kongestiv hjertesvikt, kronisk obstruktiv lungesykdom at man får åndenød.

“Astma kan vise seg i flere grader ved besvær, lindrig, til alvorlig akutte astmaanfall. Ved akutte, alvorlige astmaanfall vil du i begynnelsen av anfallet være uttalt tungpustet, ha vanskelig for å snakke, ha smerter eller ubehag i brystet, ha kraftig hoste, gjøre store anstrengelser for å trekke pusten, og ofte høres kraftige pipelyder fra lungene eller halsen. Du kan bli blek, puste svært raskt og ha forhøyet hjertefrekvens. Når anfallet har pågått en tid, vil du kunne bli utslitt og medtatt. Du har ikke lenger krefter til kraftige pustebevegelser og hosting. Dette er et svært alvorlig tegn, og det haster med behandling og hjelp. Det er hva du finner om astma i Norge. Det viser på alvoret men det forteller ikke at man faktisk kan dø av det. For å få den kunnskapen må man gå ut på nett og søke på engelsk. (Oversettelse under)

Selv WHO snakker om astma som en av mange organisasjoner og nettsteder:

Det tok meg 7 år å finne ut av dette, og jeg fant det da jeg snublet over artikler da jeg søkte om kunnskap om asthma på engelsk. Da jeg fikk astma i 2007 var det ingen som opplyste meg om dette, det var ikke noe å finne om det på norske, danske og svenske sider på nettet. Det er kun med sannheten i eie at man kan lære seg å respektere astma, både de som har astma og alle rundt omkring de som har astma. Dette er for dårlig. Jeg må kalle en spade for en spade. Hvorfor skjuler dere sannheten for oss alle?

Det er bare tre av flere hundre tusen som dør av astma hvert år i verdenen. Astma skal behandles med større respekt.

Asthma and Death

If you read on Norwegian, Danish and Swedish public pages about asthma it is very difficult to find anything about the cold hard facts that asthma is a disease one can die of. Not even the Asthma and Allergy Foundations websites has something on this knowledge. People are entitled to the truth, it is only with the truth of owning that one can learn to respect asthma, both those having asthma and everyone around those having asthma.

Asthma: The word asthma comes from Greek and signifies dyspnea. In 85% of cases it is due to asthma, pneumonia, cardiac ischemia, interstitial lung disease, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

“Asthma can show in several degrees for the person having asthma, mild, to severe acute asthma attacks. That’s what you can read about asthma in Norway. It shows the seriousness but it does not tell that one can actually die from it. To get the knowledge you have to go out on the Internet and search in English.

Even WHO talks about asthma as one of several websites:

During an asthma attack, the lining of the bronchial tubes swell, causing the airways to narrow and reducing the flow of air into and out of the lungs. Recurrent asthma symptoms frequently cause sleeplessness, daytime fatigue, reduced activity levels and school and work absenteeism. Asthma has a relatively low fatality rate compared to other chronic diseases. Asthma is a public health problem not just for high-income countries; it occurs in all countries regardless of the level of development. Most asthma-related deaths occur in low- and lower-middle income countries due to lack of medicine, but it also happens in high income countries in lack of proper treatment.
Asthma is under-diagnosed and under-treated. It creates substantial burden to individuals and families and often restricts individuals’ activities for a lifetime. The strongest risk factors for developing asthma are inhaled substances and particles that may provoke allergic reactions or irritate the airways.
Medication can control asthma. Avoiding asthma triggers can also reduce the severity of asthma.” WHO

It took me seven years to figure this out after long time searching for knowledge on asthma, stumbling over this and that searching. When I got asthma in 2007, no one informed me about this, there was nothing to find about it on the Norwegian sites on the web, nor at Danish or Swedish sites. Articles above is only a few of those several hundreds of thousands of people who die from asthma every year in the world. This is too bad. I must call a shovel a shovel. Why do you hide the truth from all of us?

Fungerer det alltid på ren vilje?

Det er ofte man hører om mennesker med handikap som klarer de mest fantastiske ting  på ren viljestyrke, de gir ikke opp, og gjennomfører. Det er inspirerende og viser på både mot og vilje å mestre. Et eksempel på disse er Jessica Cox. Hun har ingen armer og har lært seg å fly.

 

Mennesker som har handikap og står fram med alt de kan er en inspirasjonskilde både for handikappede og fult fungerende mennesker, de har gjort seg fortjent av det. Men baksiden av myntet er at de som ikke kan gjøre slike ting blir litt sett ned på eller syns synd på. Ja, ikke av alle og ikke alltid, men hvis du ikke viser den holdningen da blir du gjerne sett på som negative. Men er man det?

Ta astma for eksempel. Mange sliter med forurensning i luften av parfymer i forskjellige varianter enten det er ren parfyme eller tilsatt i andre produkter, essensielle oljer,  doftljus, røykelse, så kalte luftoppfriskere enten det er duftgraner, duftblokker eller maskiner som pumper ut duft på timer osv, tobakk, parfymerte rengjøringsmidler, vaskemilder , tøymyknere og oppvaskmilder mv. I et samfunn der det å gjøre ting på ren vilje og nå success blir sett på som heltedåd bildes det også et klima der om du sier det ikke går da blir du litt sett ned på, eller sett på som negative.

Astma er erkjent som et handikap av både WHO, EFA, og LDO, da det er en fysisk sjukdom som lager hindringer i hverdagen. Mange som har handikap kan overvinne sine handikap på ren vilje, men går det med astma? Mange som sier at om du bare tar medisin da kan du leve som alle andre og ikke ha noen bekymringer, enten lyver de eller så forteller de ikke hele sannheten for deg. Det kommer nemlig litt an på hva du blir sjuk av og hvor alvorlig din astma er.

Jeg beundrer veldig damer som Jessica Cox og alle andre med henne som klarer å overvinne sine handikap og gjøre ting uansett akkurat som alle andre. Samtidlig blir jeg litt trist og bevisst på mine egne handikap som jeg ikke kan rå for og ikke kan rå på.

En person som har astma (eller annen sensitivitet som reagerer på de samme betingelsene) som går inn i et rom der det blir brukt fragrance marketing, s.k. luftoppfrisker, parfyme på mennesker og klær, hårspray, duftlys, røykelse, sterke rengjøringsmidler og parfymerte rengjøringsmidler, parfymerte vaskemidler og oppvaskmidler mv kan den gå inn i og oppholde seg i et rom der alt dette er på ren vilje? Nei, det går ikke, ikke engang med medisiner, i hvert fall ikke de av denne gruppen som har sensitivitet mot disse stoffene i luften. Ja noen har mer sensitivitet enn andre, andre har noe mindre, men felles er at det går ikke å oppholde seg i et rom der det er uren luft. Å oppholde seg i dette miljøet på ren vilje slik som andre handikappede kan overvinne sine handikap er ikke mulig for mange med astma, allergi eller annen sensitivitet, det spiller ingen rolle hvor mye man vil, det går ikke.

Det handler ikke om vilje, jeg kan stå utenfor og ville være med, det handler ikke om positivitet eller negativitet, jeg kan ville gå inn og visst kan jeg gå inn fordi beinene fungerer og det er fult mulig å gå inn, men om jeg gjør det da blir jeg så sjuk av luftforurensningen i rommet at jeg må gå ut med en gang og jeg er sjuk i flere timer etterpå, ja kanskje flere dager. Det straffer seg og jeg må medisinere med astmamedisin mye og lenge, og ofte så mye at jeg må overdosere og får bivirkninger av det.  Det har ikke med vilje eller negativitet å gjøre, det har heller ikke med medisin å gjøre fordi jeg har all medisin mot min astma jeg kan ha, det er bare ikke nok. Jeg sakner litt det der at det er nok å ha viljen, at det er nok å ville og bare gjøre, fordi vilje har jeg masse av men det er ikke noe hjelp i det, lungene bryr seg ikke det minste i viljen min, lungene de gjør som de vil uavhengig av hva jeg måtte ønske eller ville være med på. Medisinen er bare nok til for å holde meg frisk så lenge som jeg kan unngå alle de stoffene i luften som gjør meg sjuk.

Derfor er det viktig at du er med å hjelper slik at luften er ren og fri fra disse stoffene, fordi da kan jeg og alle andre med samme handikap være med overalt!

Jeg og du har kun behov for ren luft.

ps Dette gjelder nok alle andre allergier også, jeg antar det etter hva andre allergikere har fortalt meg, slik at møt ikke de som er allergiske med “- Ta medisin!” eller “- Det gjør jeg som jeg vil!” fordi da er du med på å gjøre mennesker vondt. Og slik oppførsel blir sett  på som veldig negative på av de som er allergiske.

Take for example asthma. Many struggle with pollution in the air from perfume, scented candles and ordinary candles, incense, fragrance and strong smelling hairspray, body spray, fragrance deodorants, so called air-freshener whether it is scent blocks, manual or equipment that pumps out scent on timers etc., tobacco, fragrance detergents, fabric softeners, cleaning agents, etc. In a society where doing things on sheer will, overcoming issues and success doing so is seen as heroic, makes also a climate where if you say it does not go then you become somewhat looked down upon or seen as negative.

Asthma is recognized as a handicap by the WHO, EFA, and LDO, when it is a physical illness that creates obstacles and hinders in everyday life. Many people who have disabilities can overcome their handicap on sheer will, but does this go with asthma?

I very much admire ladies like Jessica Cox and everyone else with her who manage to overcome their handicap and do things anyway, just like everyone else does. At the same time I get a little sad and conscious of my own handicap as I can not be blamed for it and that I can not rule over it.

A person who has asthma (or other sensitivities that responds to the same conditions) that go into a room where it is used fragrance marketing, s.c. air-freshener, perfume on people and clothing, fragrance hair sprays, body sprays, fragrance deodorants, scented candles, incense, strong detergents and perfumed cleaners, etc. may enter and reside in a room where all this is the sheer determination? No, it is not possible, not even with medication, at least not those of this group who have sensitivity to these substances in the air. Some are not even helped by medicine. Yes some have more sensitivity than others, others have  less, but common is that one can not get in a room where it is impure air. To remain in this environment of pure will like other disabled people can overcome their handicap is not possible for many people with asthma and allergies, it does not matter how much you want to, it doesn’t work.

It’s not about will, I can stand outside and would like be with, it’s not about positivity or negativity, I could go and certainly I can go because my legs works and it is entirely possible to get in, but if I do then I become so sick of air pollution in the room that I have to get out right away. It has nothing to do with negativity, nor have it anything to do with medicine to take because I have all the medicine for my asthma I need, it’s just not enough. I shows that it actually is not enough to have the will, that it is not enough to want to and just do, because I want to a lot but there is no help in it, the lungs do not care the least what I want, the lungs they do what they want regardless of what I want or would like to  participate. The medicine only helps to keep me healthy as long as I avoid the substances that is not air.

Therefore, it is important that you help so that the air is clean and free from these substances, because then I and all others with the same disability can be everywhere!

I and You only need clean air.

ps This is probably true for all other allergies as well, I guess that after what other allergy sufferers have told me, so do not meet those who are allergic with “- Take your medicine!” or “- I do as I like!” because then you are to make people hurt. And such behavior is seen as very negative by those who are allergic.

Vedrørende røyking på arbeidsplass i busser, på bussholdeplasser, busskur og perronger

“§ 12.Røykeforbud i lokaler og transportmidler
I lokaler og transportmidler hvor allmennheten har adgang skal lufta være røykfri. Det samme gjelder i møterom, arbeidslokaler og institusjoner hvor to eller flere personer er samlet. Person som på tross av advarsel fra eieren eller den som driver lokalet eller transportmidlet eller representant for denne, overtrer bestemmelse gitt i eller i medhold av paragrafen her kan bortvises fra lokalet eller transportmidlet.” Lovdata.no Lov om vern mot tobakksskader (tobakksskadeloven)

Der er mange diskusjoner og synsing om røyking på bussholdeplasser i Norge. Man hevder at det er lov å røyke så lenge som man røyker ute. Det har vært diskusjoner om å forby røyking på holdeplasser og mange er imot det. De ferreste er klar over at det faktisk allerede finnes en lov som forbyr røyking på holdeplasser, da bussen står inne på holdeplassen. Jeg har selv opplevd da jeg har gitt beskjed til røykere om å bevege seg vekk fra bussen om at jeg kan dra dit peppern gror og at de har rett å røyke ute, dere som røyker kunne ikke ha mer feil. Røykere røyker ved bussen og røyken siver inn i bussen som skal være røykfri. Røykeloven slår fast at bussholdeplasser og busskur skal være røykfrie da bussen står på holdeplassen. dette iflg. Arbeidstilsynet.

Krav på eit røykfritt arbeidsmiljø
“Arbeidsgivaren har ansvaret for arbeidsmiljøet, også for at ingen blir utsette for røyk på arbeidsplassen. Alle har krav på eit røykfritt arbeidsmiljø. For arbeidstakarar inneber tobakksskadelova at ekspedisjonslokale, arbeidsrom, spiserom, der to eller fleire arbeider, korridorar, trappeoppgangar, toalett og heisar på arbeidsplassen skal vere frie for røyk.
Som hovudregel vil det ikkje lengre vere tillatt å legge til rette for røykerom eller boks på arbeidsstaden. Arbeidsgivaren er ikkje forplikta til å legge forholda til rette for røyking. Arbeidstakaren har heller ikkje krav på eigne røykepausar. Rutinar for inneklima skal tas inn i verksemda sitt interne helse-, miljø- og sikkerheitssystem. Der det er tvil om røykeforbodet, skal det tydeliggjerast med synlege skilt.” Arbeidstilsynet.no

“§ 25. Røykeforbud i lokaler og transportmidler

“Bussførerarbeidsplass når det røykes på holdeplass / i busskur. Holdeplass / busskur må regnes som inngangsparti som skal være røykfrie før bussdørrene åpnes. Kravet til røykfri luft gjelder for lokaler og transportmidler der allmennheten har adgang. Ifølge merknadene til forbudsbestemmelsen gjelder det også i inngangspartier, og det skilles ikke mellom inngangspartier for bygninger og transportmidler. Jf. kommentarene til paragraf 6 første ledd. Der er en lov som forbyr å røyke på holdeplasser og perronger da bussen står inne på holdeplass / perrong og dørene er åpne. Luften skal være røykfri før bussen er der. Stump røyken før bussen ankommer og vis også hensyn til andre som venter øvrig tid.

Ifølge loven om vern mot tobakksskader og persontransport kan personer som bryter mot loven avvises. Se § 25. Røykeforbud i lokaler og transportmidler

“Fra 2014 er det ikke anledning til å opprette egne røykerom.” Helsedirektoratet

“Eieren, driveren eller den som disponerer eller er ansvarlig for lokalene, området eller transportmidlene, plikter å sørge for at reglene gitt i eller i medhold av disse bestemmelsene blir overholdt. Det skal markeres med tydelige skilt at røyking er forbudt på steder hvor det kan være tvil om dette, samt ved inngangen til alle serveringssteder. Person som på tross av advarsel fra eieren eller den som driver eller er ansvarlig for lokalet, området eller transportmidlet eller representant for denne, overtrer bestemmelse gitt i eller i medhold av paragrafen her kan bortvises fra lokalet, området eller transportmidlet.” Arbeidsmiljøloven (AML) §25

Det er påbudt å merke med røyking forbudt skilt der det måtte være tvil om det er forbudt eller ikke. Røyking utenfor bussene er et problem både for sjåfører i arbeidsmiljøet og for dem som tar bussen. Dette må tas opp på høyeste hold slik at alle busser i hele Norge blir merket med røyking forbudt utenpå bussene og på holdeplasser, det skal også opplyses om på fylkeskommunenes nettsteder, på busselskapenes nettsteder, i rutehefter på nett og på papir, og i landsdekkende aviser slik at alle er informert.

Notere deg det fra nå av at RØYKING ER FORBUDT PÅ BUSSHOLDEPLASSER OG I BUSSKUR DA BUSSEN STÅR INNE OG AT LUFTEN SKAL VÆRE RØYKFRI FØR DØRRENE ÅPNES. DETTE BETYR AT DU SKAL STUMPE RØYKEN FØR BUSSEN STOPPER.

§ 42. Straff

A prayer for insight

En bønn til innsikt

Da har jeg begynt på en 5 dagers kur med 20 mg Prednisolon 1×1, i tillegg til 4×2 Symbicort Forte 320/9 inhalasjoner, 10mg Singulair, 10 mg Ceterizin og 2 mg/ml Ventoline inhalasjoner det skal vel bli bedre nå håper jeg.

Jeg har sett begge sider av problemet, alle som ikke har astma bør være takknemlige over å være friske og slippe problemet, og hellre vise hensyn til dem som ikke er like heldige. Derav innlegget mitt i dag. Alle som ikke har astma skal vite hvor heldige dere er. Jeg var uten astma før 2007, og jeg har nå fått oppleve begge deler. Et liv uten astma er et lett liv i forhold.

Å ha astma er som å forsøke puste med en sportssokk stukket ned i de nedre luftveiene i lungene da du får et anfall, og du får i tillegg muskelkramper i lungene, slimdannelser i lungene, såre luftveier, og du hoster til du kaster opp, og kroppen må jobbe så hardt med dette at du til slutt blir helt mør og låk i kroppen.

Astma er en sjukdom i lungene, da en person som har astma blir sjuk da er det i bronkiene i lungene som det skjer.

Kan du se hvorfor det er provoserende da du sier til en allergisk person å bare ta seg en pille da du blir bedt om å vise hensyn? Dette er frokosten min. Bilde 2 er vedlikehold resten av dagen.

Dette er ganske vanlig mengde medisin for en person med astma og allergi. Tror du ikke vi tar nok medisiner?

Bare fordi vi som har allergi og astma (ca 20-25% av verdenens mennesker) tar medisin betyr ikke det at vi ikke kan bli allergiske, medisin kurerer ikke sjukdomen den demper bare litt. Neste gang du blir bedt om å vise hensyn, gjør det.

Jeg leser i bland arrogante kommentarer fra folk da noen vil fortelle om sine behov av frisk luft, folk som sier ting som:

“Jeg røyker hvor jeg vil, det har du ikke noe med.”
“Det er hetsing og mobbing av røykere…”

Ber man dem om å ikke røyke da kan man få høre ting som jeg opplevde å få høre:

“- Jeg synes det blir litt mye av det der.”

Personen mente jeg klaget for mye.

Eller andre ting jeg har lest og bevitnet:

“Jeg bruker parfyme hvor jeg vil, det har du ikke noe med, det er min rett.”
“Om du ikke tåler parfyme så får du vel holde deg hjemme da.”
“Du bør ikke ta offentlig transport om du ikke tåler det, det kan bli forsinkelser om du blir sjuk.”

De skulle prøve å leve med astma noen år så kanskje dem ville bygge opp litt godt skjønn og omtenksomhet for andre. Det er jo ikke slik at man sier fra fordi man ikke har noe bedre fore. Man har en god grunn.

Med min gjennom egen erfaring ervervet kunnskap om astma blir jeg også meget provosert da folk sier:

“Jeg spiser hva jeg vil hvor jeg vil.”

Da jeg sier til dem at de bør kanskje la være å spise f.eks. de peanøttene til de kommer hjem.

Jeg har ikke matallergi men jeg vet hva det vil si å ha astma som er en luftbåren sensitivitet og kronisk betennelse i lungene som gir pustevansker da det er annet enn luft i luften.

Der er matallergi som er luftbåren, ergo om du spiser noe som for eksempel peanøtter eller andre matvarer kan det være en person som får alt fra kløe til anafylaktisk dødelig allergireaksjon.

Er det alltid så viktig å få gjøre akkurat som man vil overalt? Burde det ikke være litt viktig å tenke på andre enn seg selv også?

Akkurat som vi trenger å spise og drikke for å leve så trenger vi å puste. Vi MÅ gjøre begge delene for å leve.

Om du opplever at noe ikke skader deg så er ikke det gyldig for alle omkring deg. I ren luft er jeg og andre med samme problemet uten symptomer og puster uten problemer, det vil vi gjerne gjøre hver dag akkurat som du gjør.

Spis gjerne men helst hjemme, på restaurant og ellers ute. Kutt ut parfymerte produkter og røyken. Da kan alle ha en god dag, ikke bare du.

Vi kan ikke velge å la være å puste, men du kan velge å la være å bruke ting som forurenser luften vi alle deler.

This is rather normal for a person having asthma and allergy. Don’t you think we have to take enough medicine?

Just because we who have allergies and asthma (about 20-25% of worlds population) take medication does not mean that we can not become allergic, medicine does not cure the illness, it only dampen it just slightly. Next time you are asked to show respect, do it.

I read from time to time (rather very often) the arrogant comments from people when someone will tell about their need of fresh air, people who say things like:

“I smoke where I want, that you do not have anything to do with.”
“It’s bullying of smokers …”

If one ask one of them not to smoke, one can be told things that I experienced to hear:

“- I think it’s too much of that.”

The person thought I complained too much.

Or other things I have read and witnessed:

“I use perfume where I want, it’s not any of your buisness, that’s my right.”
“If you can not tolerate perfume you’d best stay home then.”
“You should not take public transportation if you get sick from it, it can be delays if you get sick.”

They should try to live with asthma a few years so maybe those would build up some good judgment and thoughtfulness for others. It is not so that one says all of this because one have nothing better to do. One has a good reason for it.

With my own personal experience and acquired knowledge about asthma I am provoced and angered when people say:

“I eat what I want where I want.”

When I tell them that maybe they should refrain from eating for example their peanuts until they get home.

I do not have food allergies but I know what it means to have asthma which is an airborne sensitivity and chronic inflammation of the lungs that causes breathing difficulties when there is nothing but only air in the air.

There are food allergies that are airborne, ergo if you eat something such as peanuts or other foods may be a person who gets everything from itching to a anaphylactic lethal allergy reaction.

Is it always important to do exactly what you want anywhere? Should not it be a little important to think about anyone but themselves as well?

Just as we need to eat and drink to live so we need to breathe. We MUST do both parts to be able to live, read survive. Breathing is essential to live.

If you feel that something does not hurt you it is not it valid for all around you. In clean air I and others with the same problem is without symptoms and breathe without problems, and this is something that we like to do every day just like you do.

Please, do eat but preferably eat at home, in a restaurant and elsewhere outdoors. Cut out using scented products and smoke. Then all have a good day, not just you.

We can not choose not to breathe, but you can choose not to use things that pollute the air we all share.

I totally agree with him, smoking is disgusting. I can not understand how anyone can smoke. It must be the dumbest “joy” anyone can have. You stink from it, you pollute the air for everyone, you get sick from it, you make others sick from it, and you even pay for it all. How dumb is that?

Sympathetic smoker 2

He blew the smoke sky high

Today when I came from the store in my lunch break I met a man walking and smoking. When he saw me he literally turned his head away the other way and blew the smoke sky high the opposite way of me.

It is the very first time this have ever happened as I have experienced. Ok, the street was not smoke free, I felt it, but I would have felt it even more if he had not made the smoke go another direction.

More than one person every two hours on average, due to smoking-related diseases

Smoking in the bus

Røyking i bussen når bussen er tom…

Til dem som det berør og du vet hvem du er.

Det klages på bussjåfører som røyker i bussen. Jeg vet at det forekommer og det vet passasjerene også. Det forekommer i alle busselskaper. Jeg har sett at det skjer med egne øyne, mine lunger har opplevd konsekvensen, og jeg leser om det i diskusjonsfora der busskunder deltaker. Det er både bruk av vanlig tobakk og damping som skjer. Det er uholdbart.

En bekjent av meg ble utsatt for damping, hun har astma og hun fikk et alvorlig astmaanfall der og da av dampen. Det er vås at damping ikke er skadelig for de med lungesjukdommer. Røyking av vanlige sigaretter og rulletobakk i bussen er en helseplage.

Det er enkeltpersoner som gir blaffen i sine omgivelser. Jeg gir et skikkelig surfjes til deg som holder på slik. Det er både ulovlig og ukollegialt, og mangel på kundeservice. Continue reading

Asthma plus a cold

Since I have not had asthma all my life I am blessed with before and after knowledge.

I remember when I had a cold before asthma, it was not always a easy thing but man I wouldn’t have complained one moment if I knew what those having asthma go through.

Well, now I have the after knowledge too. I know now what it is like to have a cold and asthma.

I have always hated taking medicine,  it is a nag and a bother. But since 2007 I have been forced to take medicine due  to having asthma,  I do not like the feeling suffocating on my own lungs. What does this have anything to do with having a cold then? Asthma is a disease of the airways to begin with so everyone having asthma have a underlying airway issue, and then we all get that cold on top of it all.

You know when you feel your nose is clogged and you cough and think you have a fever, such times a person having asthma got it at least 5 times worse.

So, do I say this to complain and feel sorry for myself? No, I have become friends with the thought many years ago, but I sometimes think back on the days when I was asthma free and how easy all who have only a cold have it. If you only knew how lucky you are.

Be happy for the small nose spray, headache pill to bring your fever down, cough medicine and your paper to clean your nose with.

And when you smoke and fragrance around us in addition, yes what can I say?

Dagens Medisin on indoor clima

In a article by Dagens Medisin (Medincine Today)  scientist talk about indoor clima.

“Researchers recommend minimal use of perfumes, candles, wood heating and heating of the car to improve the indoor air.”

“Researchers at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU) has looked into the indoor environment specifically in the Arctic. This has not been done previously. Now it is just a pilot study published. Indoor air quality in both private homes and workplaces were tested for volatile organic compounds.

– The climatic conditions in the north imposes people a different lifestyle than other places that may lead to increased pollution indoors. In many places, the house can be wrapped in snow six months a year. – Indoor air is not currently regulated. Before politicians can set limits, they must get information from as many places as possible about how the condition is, said Katsogiannis.

The study collected air samples from various rooms in private homes and various rooms at workplaces in Tromsø in October and November of 2013. In some cases we found that the concentration of particulate matter was higher than the proposed maximum limits. We saw that using the wood stove and candles, leading to increased exposure to certain types of particles. We assume that dust and particles from the use of black sand on the snow and the use of studded tires on asphalt, also influence indoor climate. This may have various adverse effects on human health, such as asthma.

Katsogiannis believe this study can be used as a starting point for further studies.

– You should now look at several chemicals found in indoor air in households. Chemical monitoring studies should be done together with epidemiological and toxicological studies where we examine the state of health, disease prevalence, and find out how chemicals affect. It’s the only way we can understand how air quality affects health and a method that can quantify this, says Katsogiannis. He points out that eachand everyone is responsible for its indoor environment. It is therefore our responsibility to protect it. The smoking ban was an excellent start. People should also use less spray, perfume, candles, incense and wood burning. We must remember that when we brush up, it also affects the indoor environment to a greater or lesser degree. Ventilation is generally the most important to reduce toxic substances in indoor air.

Please, continue the good word and please also look into the use of fragrance washing and cleaning products, air fragrance like air freshener, scented candles, designer scent like fragrance marketing and so on. It is a violation of the need for fresh air for a continued good health.

Genes and smoking – Research

New research: Specific gene makes you a heavy smoker

“Danish researchers from the University of Copenhagen and Herlev Hospital has for the first time demonstrated that there is a direct link between smoking and a significantly increased mortality.

The researchers followed 55,568 people. These include 38,823 smokers who were followed for 10 years. The scientific study also documents that genes play a crucial role in whether one who smokes ends up as a heavy smoker. Smoking gene has no bearing on whether you start smoking, or even if one stops again. But if you smoke, one gene make you smoke more. Those with the gene variant inherited from both parents smoke 20 percent more than those without the gene variant specific. Evidence suggests that it may be genetically predisposed to heavy smoking. Smokers who carry a particular genetic mutation that is at a higher tobacco consumption and are more affected by smoking, for example, by having a higher content of nicotine in the blood. Answer to Jan-Erik Gaup at origo.no

I went to the blog of dr Aage Hegge Hansen and read even one more of his good words and conclusions. In the comment field I found some rather disturbing comments from a guy Jan-Erik Gaup. He claims that smoking is not harmful to the lungs and airways, and he also claims fragrance is nothing anyone can become ill from. And even more he claims that people who say they become ill from fragrance have psychological issues, he says the fault is within them and not something else. This man stands very ignorant in my point of view. The comment field was closed for further comments so I just wrote a blogging on the matter. Lets just say I wanted to teach him a lesson.

Research: Smoke reduces HDAC2 in the body decreasing effect from medicines.

Smoke damage the effect of Asthma medicine

It is known that passive smoking worsens asthma symptoms and reduce the effectiveness of inhaled steroid treatment, but how this occurs has not been elucidated.

Now researchers at Imperial College in London found that a person with severe asthma who is constantly exposed to smoke, have lower levels of the enzyme HDAC2 compared to those who is not subjected to smoke. It is precisely HDAC2 necessary to steroids in asthma medicine should be able to have an anti-inflammatory effect.

New EU Tobacco Products Directive!

” The EU Council has just formally adopted the new Tobacco Products Directive!
Soon the following changes will take place:
(1)   Health warnings will cover 65% of the front and back of tobacco products packages;
(2)   Slim and fancy tobacco products packages will be prohibited;
(3)   All tobacco flavors will be banned immediately after the entry into force of the Directive for cigarettes and roll-your own tobacco. Menthol will be banned from 2020;
(4)   Many harmful addictives will we prohibited;
(5)   Electronic cigarettes will be regulated.
The WHO European Region has one of the highest proportions of deaths attributable to tobacco and we consider this Directive as an important step for diminishing the tobacco epidemic in Europe!

Røyking er anti-sosialt

Der er en myte om at røyking er sosialt, at man treffer folk, røyker og derfor snakker. Jeg vil si at røyking er svært anti-sosialt,  fordi det hindrer en stor gruppe mennesker fra å snakke med deg som røyker. Det er mange ganger jeg har gått forbi folk jeg kjenner nettopp fordi dem røyker. Ikke fordi jeg er snobbete, ikke liker personen eller ikke liker røyking, men fordi min helse tar skade av røykingen, mine lunger bryr seg fint lite i om jeg vil prate. Det er således mange gode samtaler og møter som aldri blir noe av.

Og jeg er ikke alene om å føle på kroppen denne usosiale virkningen av røyking. En kamrat av meg sliter på arbeidsplassen sin med at folk røyker også om vedkommende sier han tar skade av det. De sier de har rett å røyke når det er i friluft ved dørrer. Men hva med retten til ham som er sensitiv å slippe bli sjuk? Jeg har også blitt utsatt for denne holdningen. Retten å forurense veier for noen viktigere enn hensynet til andres helse.

It is a myth that smoking is social, that one meet people, smoke and talk. I say smoking is very anti-social because it hinders a large group of people from talking with you who smoke. I have many times had to just walk past a person I know because they smoke. It is not because I am a snob, don’t like the person, or do not like smoke, but because it hurts my health. My lungs don’t care at all if I want or need to talk to someone. There are many nice and good talks that never occur because of smoke.

And I am not alone experiencing this anti-social effect from smoking. A friend of mine experience trouble with this at his work place. People smoking outside the doors and at regions where he must work, and people claim the have the right to smoke. The right to pollute is greater for some than the right to be healthy.

Incense toxic and harmful to health and indoor air

#incense The study followed 61,320 men and women between the ages of 45 and 74 for 12 years. When burned, incense releases carcinogens such as polyaromatic hyodrcarbons (PAHs), a class of toxins that includes formaldehyde and that has been linked to lung cancer in smokers. An earlier study found PAH content in temples that burn incense up to 45 times higher than in homes where people smoke. Incense typically contains other carcinogens such as carbonyls and benzene, which can trigger DNA mutations in human cells. Although the components of incense typically include benign plant and flower matter along with essential oils, most formulations also incorporate not-so-benign artificial fragrances and binders. The smoke produced as incense burns releases particulate matter, and because it slowly smolders, it releases even higher concentrations.” Sudy made by Study director Dr. Jeppe Friborg, of Statens Serum Institute in Copenhagen

As Dr. Len Horvitz, a pulmonary specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, said, “Anything that affects air quality negatively is not a good thing. Burning in general and the release of smoke, these things are certainly to be avoided. At the very least, chemical irritants will set off asthma, and that’s reversible. Cancer is not reversible.”

“This is not unlike the type of risk that one experiences from secondhand tobacco smoke,” said Dr. Len Lichtenfeld of the American Cancer Society.

“Burning incense produces particulates greater than 45 mg/g burned as compared to only 10 mg/g burned for cigarettes–more than four times the load. So if you’re sitting right on top of burning incense and breathing it in, you’re getting a heavier whack of particulates than you would from smoking.”

“Incense has been implicated before in numerous studies (along with its cousin, scented candles). One such study found that exposure to burning incense at least once a week during pregnancy increases the risk that the child will develop leukemia by 2.7 times. ”

Smoke ban in apartments – Lundberg’s – Aftonbladet.se

Now it may be an end to smoking in your own apartment.

Smoking damages on sperms and the unborn child.

“Substances in tobacco can damage genetic material in the sperm. Also sperm stem cells can have lasting damage , according to research from the NIPH. A wish for Advent with Fresh air – MD Aage Hegge Hansen

“Asthma and Allergy Association has been pushing for fresher air in our surroundings. At the National Convention in 2010 was unanimously adopted as the main goal of the organization in the period 2010 to 2019 to “remove smoke, perfume and fragrant irritants from public places .”

Because so many people use them, probably for example Omo and Comfort the two most selling products on the Norwegian market, which provide most Health issues overall.

My call in Advent is therefore all parents to throw out all hygiene products containing synthetic fragrance, so we save children and adults for the intense smell of toxic chemicals.

In order for the air to keep its freshest possible, it is good if we also also to steer clear of incense , candles and essential oils , and preferably refrain from the Crhristmas cigar.

Then maybe smell get so that you can recognize the smell of Christmas that really matter, and lasting value in memory : The smell of natural skin or unscented hair. The smell of wet wool. The smell of ribs and sauerkraut – and the smell of spices .

The Sympathetic smoker

En sympatisk røyker

I dag hadde jeg litt av en dag, min kollegas buss startet ikke, og han måtte ta min buss siden han normal har flere passasjer enn jeg har, og siden der ikke var noen ekstra buss tilgjengelig så ble jeg uten buss. Vi ringte taxi for hjelp, og de kom i en minibuss. Siden han ikke visste turen  kjørte jeg i bilen min foran ham for å lede veien. Han tok på passasjerene.

Kl. 0804 måtte vi gjøre en liten stopp for å vente på at klokken skulle slå 0810 før han kunne fortsette å plukke opp studentene.

Mens vi ventet der på busstoppet gikk vi ut av bilene og snakket. Han tenner en sigarett.

Og jeg som har astma starter på den lille dansen for å prøve å holde seg unna røyken, jeg beveget meg bort fra ham for å unngå røyken. Og som folk flest når du beveger deg bort da de beveger de seg nærmere. Slik ble det at vi “danset” fram og tilbake litt, før jeg måtte fortelle ham og be ham om å  gå nærmere siden jeg prøver å holde meg unna røyken hans siden jeg har astma.

– Åh, det er så lite som trengs for å gjøre deg syk? sa han.

– Ja, svarte jeg.

Da tok han frivillig sigaretten og kastet den, med et smil.

Det mine damer og herrer er en sympatisk røyker.

Det er hvordan alle skal oppføre seg rundt følsomme personer, enten det er røyk, parfyme eller noe annet.

A sympathetic smoker

 

Today I had some day, my colleague’s bus did not start and he had to take my bus, and since there were no extra bus available I had none. We called for taxi for help, and they came in a minibus. MD Aage Hegge Hansen “As the first Norwegian doctor publicly (including on NRK) declared battle against perfume pollution, I have via the web come in contact with patients all over the world.

My contacts have strengthened me in theory that it is the fragrance of hygiene products that are hazardous to health, hygiene is not in itself, as some here at home has believed.

When the fourth of Norwegian adolescents with asthma, it is in reality a national disaster. This gives asthma including increased risk of fatal COPD later in life. But modern asthma therapy is so effective that patient and doctor can easily forget disease is so dangerous degree and that the best treatment is still trying to find the reasons for getting rid of asthma. Unfortunately, few people seem to be interested in it.

It is not many years ago since smokers could freely wide in all arenas. People with sensitive lungs could protest as much as they wanted, the smoke was a legal product that was lit where you found it for good. This is no longer, the health argument has trumped all other arguments, and now tobacco is rolled back using the law. It will thus soon become marginalized as a public health problem.

Now the perfume used is the main challenge, something most people are able to recognize at the individual level. If person A on the job stinks so strongly of perfume, that person B gets sick from it and are not able to be there anymore – it is then that B must quit his job, or is it A, which must begin to meet up with odor-free clothes? I would think that B’s claim of fresh air should be considered more legitimate than A’s desire to use perfume, in unlimited quantity, anywhere and anytime.

Perfume emissions primarily from clothing, hair and skin of the user, but also sits in the house and car interiors, which one gets secondary degassing up to months and years. The gases are causing a number of “conditions” as Sick Building Syndrome (SBS), Building Related Illness (BRI) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS). Primary and secondary perfume degassing has become so dominant  cause of disease, and gives such a typical view on the matter, depending on the degree of exposure and time exposed, it may be appropriate to define a separate syndrome; Perfume Related Illness (PRI).

Regardless, perfume and tobacco smoke two sides of the same contamination issue, and perfume use is so extensive now in 2011, that the whole body of society may be said to be sick and perfume damaged, in addition to that they are already and still tobacco damaged. The difference is that while damages to health du to tobacco is under consideration, with the Tobacco Act as medicine, no perfume injuries is taken up for discussion even in the responsible departments and organisations.

E-Cigarettes Electrical Cigarettes is harmful to the lungs

Electronic cigarettes, also known as vaporizer cigarettes and e-cigarettes, are devices  that release doses of water vapor that may or may not include nicotine. E-cigarettes are powered by a small battery.

Electrical cigarettes or e-cigarettes are by many regarded as healthy alternative to tobacco smoking, but they do cause damage to the lungs, scientists from the University of Athens, Greece, explained at the European Respiratory Society’s Annual Congress 2012, Vienna, on Sunday. Electronic cigarettes, also called e-cigarettes have also been marketed as effective smoking cessation devices.

People were let smoking e-cigarettes for ten minutes, and then they messured the lung capasity breating in and out fast. This is the same kind of test they do when checking asthma and other lung diseases.

“A spirometry test, as well as some others diagnostic procedures were used to measure their airway resistance. Airway resistance is used in respiratory physiology to measure the resistance of the respiratory tract to airflow coming in during inspiration (inhalation) and going out during expiration (exhalation).”

They found that using an e-cigarette caused an instant increase in airway resistance (that is a decrease in breathing ability) that lasted for 10 minutes in the majority of the participants. Actually meaning increased problems with breathing. Below are some of their findings:

  • Non-smokers – even among lifetimes non-smokers, using an e-cigarette for ten minutes raised their airway resistance to 206% from 182% (mean average); the researchers described this as a “significant increase”.
  • Current regular smokers – among existing regular smokers, the spirometry tests revealed a significant rise in airway resistance to 220%, from 176% after using one e-cigarette for ten minutes.
  • COPD and Asthma patients experienced no significant increase in airway resistance from using one e-cigarette for ten minutes.

The test result for those with asthma and COPD I wonder about? Lungs are lungs and it is rather strange that the smokers got the worst results. Is it that those with COPD and Asthma are protected by their medicines that they did not react as much as the others? I find that likely. Then again for some people with asthma pure water vapor can be helpful, while in ohters it is harmful. If the vapor was not added any additive then maybe that is the answer.

“Ministers are concerned that some brands of E-cigarettes may contain very high levels of nicotine – the addictive substance in cigarettes has also been linked to cancer.”

Regardless what anyone says fresh air is best for the whole body, that is what we are designed to inhale.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show your significant other how much you care. However, when you have asthma many traditional gifts can worsen symptoms and make it hard to breathe. The American Lung Association offers these tips that can help make your Valentine’s Day more asthma-friendly.

Low-pollen/No-pollen, Fragrance-free Flowers and Plants

Flowers are a traditional way to say “I love you”, but many varieties can cause asthma and allergy symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, itchy and watery eyes, sneezing and coughing. However, this doesn’t mean your loved ones can’t enjoy fresh cut blooms or flowering plants. Here are some tips to make an asthma – and allergy-friendly selection that everyone can enjoy:

  • Fresh Flowers: Ask your florist to create a low pollen, low fragrant asthma-friendly bouquet. Check out Organic Bouquet which highlights some low-fragrant options.
  • Potted Plants: A container herb garden with parsley and thyme, or orchids, miniature roses and ivy are pollen-free choices. Be mindful that indoor plants can be a source of mold – a common asthma trigger. To avoid mold growth, do not overwater plants, keep them in a sunny spot and remove any dead parts immediately. Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust.

Fragrance-free Gifts:
Perfume, cologne and scented body products may help your sweetie smell nice, but the chemicals in both can worsen asthma and allergy symptoms. They can cause wheezing, nausea and headaches. Consider fragrance-free gifts, such as:

  • Unscented Bath Products: Give your loved one a basket full of unscented soaps, bath salts, lotions and shampoo. They are just as luxurious as their scented counterparts, but should not cause asthma symptoms.
  • Unscented Candles: Candles create a romantic atmosphere, but their scent can trigger asthma. Use the flameless, electric candles instead. They come in many sizes and provide a lovely glow.
  • Fragrance-free Spa Gifts: Who doesn’t love a day at the spa? Before purchasing a spa service ask if a fragrance-free option is available, including unscented oils, candles and lotions.

Select a Smoke-free Restaurant:
Cigarette and cigar smoke can trigger an asthma episode, so choose a smoke-free restaurant for that cozy dinner for two. Second-hand smoke can easily travel from the smoking section into the non-smoking section, so try to avoid restaurants that offer smoking sections.

Avoid Fireplaces:

The smoke caused by wood burning fireplaces can be an asthma trigger. Choose a restaurant without a fireplace. If not, sit as far away from the roaring fire as possible.

Select an Allergy- and Asthma-friendly Hotel:

Planning an overnight stay? Some hotels offer rooms that minimize allergens. They may be furnished with hardwood floors instead of carpet, have shades instead of fabric drapes, and use hypoallergenic linens. When making reservations ask if your hotel can accommodate the following:

  • Non-smoking Property: Choose a hotel that is completely smoke-free. Cigarette and cigar smoke can travel through the heating and cooling systems into your room. If a smoke-free hotel is not available, stay in a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor.
  • BYOB – Bring Your Own Bedding: If you use a special pillowcase or mattress covers to reduce dust mite exposure consider bringing them with you. Hypoallergenic “sleep sacks” are designed to use when staying in hotels to protect you from allergens, and can be purchased at stores that sell bedding.
  • Fragrance-Free Rooms: If strong odors trigger your asthma, ask for a hotel room without scented soaps, lotions or cleaning products. If you are a houseguest, ask your host not to burn candles or incense, or use air fresheners.
  • Firelight: Planning a romantic dinner in front of the fire? Instead of a fire try placing flameless candles in or around the fireplace for mood lighting.

Here are a few more ways you can show your loved one how much you care.

Whale vomit and other chemicals in cigarettes – The content of tobacco and smoke

Did you know there are used whale vommit in cigarettes? Whale vommit, or Ambergris, is used as a tincture to add flavour to cigarettes.

More commonly referred to as whale vomit, ambergris is one of the hundreds of possible additives used in cigarettes. Ambergris is a fatty, waxy substance that forms in the intestines of the sperm whale.

Castoreum m/ is the exudate from the castor sacs of the mature North American Beaver (Castor canadensis) and the European Beaver (Castor fiber). The Invisible Threat of ‘Thirdhand Smoke’

Third hand smoke

Third hand smoke, what is that? Third hand smoke is when a smoker have been smoking and then enters a space where a non-smoker is subjected to the fumes of the smokers breath, hair, skin and clothes. The chemicals and fumes fromt he smoking clings to the smoker, their breath and person, and if smoking indoors even to furnitures a.s, walls, roof and floors.

Third hand smoking can trigger an asthma attack. I myself have experienced it many times, and it is no joke talking to a smoker and your lungs like to strangle you.

“The recently recognized dangers of “thirdhand smoke, the gases and particles that cling to clothing, hair, furniture, walls and other surfaces long after a cigarette is stubbed out.
