Rengjør kaffekruset – Clean coffee cup

Rengjør ditt favoritt kaffekrus

Clean your travel cup

Du trenger: ( You need: )

Koppen (coffee cup)
Varmt vann (hot water)
Kaffetrakter rens flytende type (liquid cleaner for coffee machines)
En bolle (a big bole)
Oppvaskkost (dishwasher brush)
Q-Tip (cotton swab)

This is my cup, I have had it for many years. A Contigo cup. It is a very good cup, and it keeps the coffee cold for hours.

image

After long use at work it get stained inside.

image

Slik gjør du.

This is how you should do.

image

Hell kaffetrakterrens i koppen og tilsett hett vann.

Pour coffee machine cleaning liquid in to the cup and add hot water.

image

Fill it and let it stand for a few hours.

image

Take the bole, pour the cleaning liquid into the bole, add hot water. Put something in the drinking hole of the lid so that the water can do its job. Put the lid under water.

image

image

La det stå.

Let it sit.

image

image

The lid of my cup is hard to clean using a dishwashing brush, I use a cotton swab. At first glance it looks clean.

image

I push the button and this comes to show.

image

Her kommer man ikke til med oppvaskkost, her bruker jeg Q-tip.

It is too narrow to use a dishwashing brush here, so I use a cotton swab.

image

Og det skjuler seg litt under her.

Some coffee gunk hiding under here.

image

Now it is much nicer.

image

Gjør rent kruset med oppvaskkost som vanlig. Så pent blir det.

Clean using the dishwasher brush. It gets this clean, clean as a whistle.

image

Drikk en god kopp kaffe i et rent krus. :)

Have a good cup of coffee in a clean cup. :)

Clean detailed silver – Rengjør detaljert silver

I got this silver plated candle stick for a birthday many years ago. Even though it is not pure silver I like to keep it clean and nice looking. It was a pain until I some years ago came up with the idea to use a soft tooth brush to get those small details clean. Now it is done in a jiffy!

You need this:
One SOFT tooth brush
Silver polish
A cloth to wipe it clean after

image

Take the silver polish and the tooth brush and gently brush it clean.

image

Brush the candle stick using the tooth brush and silver polish. Let it stand for a while. Moist it again with more silver polish, brush and wipe it clean using the cloth.

If you can not wipe everything off with the cloth you can rinse it under water brushing using the tooth brush and then wipe it dry.

image

Done!

Who could guess they are inexpensive copies? Looking good!

(It is not very asthma friendly but it need to be done sometimes.)

Note! You need to wear some clothes you do not care much for since this is a little messy job.

Good luck ☺

Rengjør høreapparatet – Clean your hearing aid

(Scroll down for English)

Lykke til ☺

Do you have a hearing aid?

The plug in the ear becomes gradually bit nasty and need cleaning, and then especially the narrow passage in the plug is difficult to get clean.

My tip!

This works on hearing aids that sits behind the ear and has a tube and a ear plug. See picture.

What you need:
• A color free and fragrance free hand soap
• Tap water (warm)
• Neutral antiseptic wipes (or another variety that  is fragrance and color free, good for allergy and the skin.)
• Jordan toothpicks with broom

Carefully remove the plug from the hose that it is attached to. Put to side the hearing aid part, it is the plug you have in your ear you are to clean with this tip.

Take some mild fragrance and color free soap (eg. for example Neutral or Coop Änglamark that are mild and gentle) and warm water. Clean the plug exterior and rinse with warm water both outside and look to hit with the beam in the hole so that it flushes through the plug to get away the worst ear wax. Take a toothpick Jordan with brush and broom clean in the passage of the plug. See image

Take a corner of the towel and twirling it thinly. You must push the twisted corner of the towel into the passage in the plug. When you’ve got the tip of the cloth into the hole then keep turning the towel gently into the hole, a little at a time until you see the tip on the other end of the passage. Twist it around a little and repeat until you’ve gotten away any dirt or earwax has accumulated in the plug. A napkin has 4 corners so you can easily get it clean. Repeat until you are satisfied. Take even a napkin and wipe the entire instrument. Clean and neat and ready for use again. Now sound can easily pass and you hear better.

Good luck

Put out a candle

Putting out a candle by blowing it out will give you a lot of smoke bad for you. Smoke from a candle holds about as many bad particles as tobacco smoke so you should avoid inhaling it. There are tools for putting out candles and prevent the smoke. but left without a way to prevent that, what do you do?

image

1 in 4 people have asthma and in addition to those people with other lung diseases. Most of these people use inhalers to manage the illness, but the lid of a Turbuhaler is useful for other things like putting out a candle smoke free.

wpid-20141225_184610.jpg

Take the lid off and swiftly put it over the candle, if you do it slowly the lid may melt since it is made from plastic, so do it swiftly. Then let is stay on the candle for a bit. Don’t lift it because then you let smoke out.

image

There a smoke free room.

ps. See to that you always use candles from pure stearine and not parrafine or scented caandles. Pure stearine is better, but of course electric candles is best for the indoor  air.

Fix your car key

Do you have a car key you press to lock and unlock?  Have you lost the button you press on? You can easily repair it and at low cost.

image

What you need is

    • The key
    • A piece of hard plastic about as thick as the hole is deep, but 1 millimeter thinner than the hole is deep. Not thicker than the hole is deep.
    • Electric tape (choose a color that fit your key handle).

First cut the plastic to a piece that fit the hole you are going to place it in.

image

Take the piece of plastic part and put it into the hole.

image

Take the tape and tape around the key handle. You can make a colored mark to point out where to press if you want.

image

To tape the key handle also works if the screw that holds it together is lost. Save a buck.

Works like a charm!

Clothes hangers keep hanging!

Have you ever had problems with clothes hangers falling down in your caravan? Here’s a tip on how to make them stay put.

image

Use plastic clothes hangers made both for jackets and trousers, and take a string or similar and pull it through all the clothes hangers and over the pole. Tighten and close a knot. Viola! They won’t fall off!

How to clean your makeup brushes fragrance free

First of all choose a scent free organic makeup for your makeup. And when you use it clean the brushes once in a while.

How to choose makeup brushes. Rounded thick brushes is to prefer. For powder makeup choose brushes of natural  hair, and for cream and foundation either synthetic or natural will do.

How to clean Your makeup brushes fragrance free

Squirt a small amount of fragrance free schampo in a mug filled with warm water and, softly swirl your makeup brushes in the soapy water to loosen the oils and makeup. Dump out the water and repeat until the water runs clean.

If you have a particularly soiled brush, put a small amount of fragrance free shampoo in your palm and clean the brush by hand.

Put the handles of the brushes on a ledge or on top of a folded towel so that the water will drain down and out of the bristles. Let them air dry overnight and fluff in the morning. Use a blow dryer to dry, if needed.

Clean your car asthma, allergy and sensitive friendly – by Annelie Molin

Allergic, asthmatic or got another sensitivity? Do you get sick from cleaning your car?

image

If you have a problem using regular products for cleaning your car inside. Use wet perfume free baby wipes! It does the job just as good as any other product (except for windows).

For everyone it can be a good thing doing this as well. Ordinary car products are smack full of dangerous chemicals that is not good for you, and your friends might be sensitive and get reactions taking a ride with you. 25 % of the population have a sensitivity, so when selling a car it can be negative filling it with perfumes, smells and other chemicals.

My tip of the day. :-)

Bread crumbs in keyboard

(Scroll down for English)

Her kommer oppvaskkosten godt med.

In English

If you are one of those who still use the laptop and not have given in to read the board, then probably you are experiencing from time to time that it usually gets a little bread crumbs in the keyboard. It’s so nice to sit with the computer in your lap and eat something, right?

Here comes the washing up brush in handy. Keep your laptop over the sink and take a dry washing up brush and brush away the bread crumbs. A bit cheaper than going to the computer store and buy high-pressure air in a can.

A sleeping bag and a pillow

A sleeping bag and a pillow should be standard equipment in any car while driving in the countryside both winter and summer. If you are a long way from civilisation and you get trouble with your car of any kind you will need the  pillow and the sleeping bag to get rest and keep warm. This is specially important when you drive in the winter, and even more so if you drive in the mountains. If you get snowed in it might take a long time to get help. If you run out of petrol you will soon find yourself freezing in your car pretty soon. And leaving your car in a blizzard is a bad idea. Having your sleeping bag and pillow, warm clothes with you along with some hot drink on a thermos may save your life.

Dress jacket sleeves

I bought a new dress jacket. A plain black one I can use with jeans, skirt or a dress. But as is almost always is the sleeves are to long, and this time too. Whole 10 cm too long! So I had to do some sewing again. Hand stitched of course. : )

Fixed it myself. No need for a tailor here. : )

I still need to iron it but just today I am to tired to bather.

Fold and sew jeans

Had a long workday today and also a very long break. Only sitting around doing nothing is boring so I had brought my new pair of jeans with me to work. Legs where to long so I had to sew them up. And I am by the way wearing the scarf I sew before.

I always stitch by hand. It looks so much nicer. : )

It only take a few minutes and it is easily done. Just tuck your supporting loop back in again and sow right over the canal. And voila! your bra is ok again. : )

Water protect cam

Are you afraid of using your expensive camera when it is raining? And you think that buying such expensive water protective camera house cost too much?

There are a very easy and cheap way to protect your camera from getting wet. Just take a small clean plastic bag. Preferably use a see-through bag. For example the kind you use to deep-freeze bread in. Then make a small hole in the bottom of it and pull the lens through the hole, and cover your camera with the plastic bag.

Voila’! A rain coat for your camera!

Sanitary pad

Tena that is only for incontinent right? No, you can actually use it for your menstruation too! Some years ago a friend had an operation and had to use Tena for a while. Not needing it anymore it only took up storage place in her cabinet. So she gave it to me and I can only conclude with that if you are at a friend’s house, granny’s or grandpa’s house, or anyone else’s and you get your menstruation, then if you do not have a sanitary bind, ask them to get a Tena instead. It works just as well! :)

I got plenty of them and I think I will not have to buy new thin menstruation bind for… well… About 5 years! :)

Saving on kitchen supplies

A washing up brush does not cost a fortune, however you can save money and make it last longer if you put it in the dishwasher machine once a week. It is also much more hygienic and you are in less risk of contamination.

That also goes for your kitchen cloth you wipe tables and counters with. Put it in your washing machine!

Fire up your wood

Do you experience troubles with firing up in your fireplace? Can’t get the wood to burn?

Take a candle or a tealight and put it burning under or among the wood and the paper. Make sure it get enough air to breathe. The candle burns slowly and the stearine make a good fuel.

Have a warm and happy evening :)

Power and money-saving

I have for many years thought that sawing power (electricity) is a good thing. I try to shut down things to save power and money. Today I went a step further. I did put a timer on my water heater. It now only runs on power for two hours per 24 hours.

Power and money-saving by using a timer on my water heater.

And do it have an impact on showering and getting hot water? No. I run it between 2-4 in the morning and today I took a shower at 1300. And the water was as hot as ever.
